Former jail guard charged with sexual misconduct

GENEVA — A former corrections officer, described as an "apparent bad apple" by Kane County Sheriff Kenneth Ramsey, has been charged with sexual misconduct with a female inmate.

Frederick Shead, 32, of 139 N. Calhoun Ave., Aurora, is free on $30,000 bond one day after he surrendered to authorities on charges of official misconduct, custodial sexual misconduct and attempted custodial sexual misconduct.

The official misconduct and custodial sexual misconduct charges are Class 3 felonies, with a maximum punishment of five years in prison.

Shead is scheduled to appear this morning before Kane County Circuit Judge Patricia Piper Golden.

Ramsey, noting that such cases are "very rare," said Thursday that Shead was placed on administrative leave Sept. 7 as the sheriff's office began an internal investigation of the alleged acts.

THis is the same sheriff that has had 3 escapes in five years and a suicide last year from the jail ...... This sheriff is also in with Hastert so he gets alot of passes on his mistakes...
