I just broke the law.
Friend just came by with a new Porsche Cheyenne. I drove it.
Not recommended for people with recent heart surgery.
At 140 i backed off. What a car, 450hp.

I got a 208 dollar ticket for doing 87 in a 70. I guess the ticket would be jail time and a couple of grand.

19. Definitely an arrest would be made.
I might add in my defense.
The road i was on is 7 miles long with only myself and my neighbor living there, and he's 3 miles down the road from me.
Still there is no excuse for my actions, other than plain old dumb ass.

20. I took a Ferrari 360 Modena for a few laps round a track once......
Edited on Fri Oct-22-04 08:19 AM by Pert_UK
Not at all bad, I have to say!

But the Porsche Cayenne? I love Porsches, but this is just a stupid waste of time - an "off-roader" my arse, and it looks like a 911 that somebody over-inflated.

Still, it must have been good to get up to a decent speed eh? My mate drove me all the way from Birmingham (UK) to London at 130mph the other month.....just a leetle beet scary.

Should have said - glad you're still with us!!! Happy recuperating, mate!

21. "off-roader" my arse,
I have to agree with you on that one. I asked the friend if he'd like to take it around my ranch roads, for some unknown reason he declined the invitation.
I got to drive a 360 Modena around the local air park perimeter road about a year ago. Very light and extremely agile and fast. Had a hard time dealing with the paddle shifter on the steering wheel, felt very strange. Also amazing was the forward and reverse toggle switch on the console. Love the glass cover over the motor.

(glad you're still with us!!! Happy recuperating, mate!)
Thanks Pert
It wasn't as bad as it sounds.
I recommend to anyone having to have a bypass, Find a surgeon who can do the MIDCAB procedure, recovery time is quicker and they don't split the chest.

regular gearbox and tried to ensure I didn't throw it into reverse at 100mph!

I was on a track day that I won through work. Also got to drive an old 308 and managed to overtake a guy in the 360 'cause he was so damn slow. Why would you bother spending all that money to race Ferraris round a track and then stay below 80mph?

The gearbox broke in the 360 after I'd driven it......purely a coincidence! They say that if you own a Ferrari or a Maserati or a Lambourghini you spend the rest of your life wandering around it with a bit of plastic in your hand, trying to work out where it fell off from....

I also took a Landrover Defender around their offroad course which was lots of fun and really got me into the whole idea of offroading. I took it a bit more seriously last year when living in Australia and touring round....even if my vehicle weighed 2 tonnes and only had a 1.6L 20 year old engine in it!

like everywhere else?

Just wondering.

25. Cayenne...
It's "Cayenne" here too.

I don't think "Cheyenne" would project the right image for Porsche. Cheyenne, Wyoming is a Cowboy town in the Cowboy state. I like Cheyenne, but I don't think it's Porsche country.

30. don't you watch teevee??
I swear, we get 10 motor vehicle commercials an hour. The new Ford ads are the worst of the current bunch, in noise terms.

Tuareg (there's some story about the name, but I can't be bothered remembering or finding it).

Cayenne (no idea about that name -- never heard of that one before your post).

They do look pretty similar, the Cayenne a bit smaller.

31. Very little TV for me.
Hell I've only seen one Cayenne.( Attention Pert, If i misspelled it this time it's Iver's fault.)
I've always liked VW's.
Now i really feel bad, when Iver chews me out for not knowing my vehicles.
