More about the Missouri override
In the Missouri house a successful override of 120-35:

" More than 30 Democrats joined their Republican colleagues in the House to override the governor's narrow-minded veto"

http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=172-09102003

And in the senate 23-10 at least 4 democrats (30%) voted to override:

" Twenty senators are Republicans, and 14 are Democrats."

2. well, they haven't made the hall of shame
or even the top 100, but they've scored pretty high on one guy's scale of right wingism:

http://quinnell.us/politics/rww/individuals/index20.html#alangottlieb
(That's Alan Gottlieb, Chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms; Joe Waldron, Executive Director of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, is down at the bottom.)

Alan Gottlieb - 21

(********) Chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms. (USN, 2.14.02)

(****) Opposes the Shays-Meehan campaign finance reform bill. (USN, 2.14.02)

(****) Opposes gun control laws. (USN, 2.14.02)

(***) Strongly objects to a bill that would restrict broadcast advertising for 60 days prior to a general election. (USN, 2.14.02)

(*) "Running scared from the horrible disclosures surrounding the Enron scandal, the U.S. House of Representatives massacred the First Amendment rights of every grassroots interest group in the country. And rather do it in the light of day, they waited until the early morning hours of St. Valentine's Day, while the nation slept, to adopt legislation that is a direct assault on freedom of speech." (USN, 2.14.02)

(*) "For years, CCRKBA and others have been warning the country that Congressional zealots are not merely after the Second Amendment, but the entire Bill of Rights. Passage of Shays-Meehan is proof positive that those who oppose a citizen's right to own a gun are now focusing on their right to free speech." (USN, 2.14.02)

I don't know the guy whose list it is, but it looks pretty sound otherwise ...

3. What did your post have to do with...
...democrats voting to override the veto on CCW?

Did you imagine that *I* think that 'Democrat' and 'right-wing' are mutually exclusive concepts??

6. It hurts when I do that...
...(thinking hard) and I still don't get it. Are you trying to say there are right wing democrats?

7. oh

Maybe you really didn't get it.

The person you quoted when you reproduced this:

"More than 30 Democrats joined their Republican colleagues in the House to override the governor's narrow-minded veto"

from here:

http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=172-09102003

was one of the people my post was about: Joe Waldron:

"Missouri has an opportunity to join 35 other progressive states that have liberalized right-to-carry statutes," added CCRKBA Executive Director Joe Waldron. "History has proven that these laws do not result in the kind of Wild West shoot-outs that have been repeatedly predicted by anti-self-defense extremists. More than 30 Democrats joined their Republican colleagues in the House to override the governor's narrow-minded veto. Senate Democrats should follow their example."

The other one, Gottlieb, was also quoted extensively. In fact, they were the only two quoted.

And why's that? Why, because the source is a press release, not a "report".

Just goes to show that even a stopped clock is right twice a day and all that. The objectionable nature of your source and its objectionable characterization of the facts for which you cite it didn't affect my assessment of the credibility of the facts in this case: I"m quite sure that it's in all likelihood true that "More than 30 Democrats joined their Republican colleagues in the House to override the governor's narrow-minded veto" -- although I'm sure there must be some source that would give a precise figure, and I do wonder why anyone would make this particular source his/her first choice ...

8. I recognized that the quote...
..."override the governor's narrow-minded veto" as being opinionated. But so much reportage is anyways. To answer your question as to why I used this source; it was the only hit I got from Google news at the time. And still is as of 6:00pm. My search was "missouri ccw vote override".
