outlaw semi-auto shotguns and deer hunting ammo. Of course this is a lie. The shotgun thing was a vote to outlaw assault type shotguns that law enforcement uses and the deer hunting ammo is metal piercing bullets. They are also running ads on the radio in Ohio and PA with the same lies. They don't say Bush 41 quit the NRA because they called the FBI jackbooted thugs and they opposed putting markers in explosives after the Oklahoma City bombing. Sad thing is I think this is going to sway a lot of votes in this area.

2. From what I heard that is a half truth. What he voted to outlaw was

semi auto tactical weapons that law enforcement uses only not any used for hunting or target shooting. Anyway this was what I heard a local radio talk show host read from factcheck.org.

5. I don't understand. The bill speaks for itself. The bill says
Edited on Sun Oct-31-04 09:27 PM by jody
all semiautomatic shotguns used by the military or law enforcement are presumed to be assault weapons and shotguns like the Remington 11-87 are used by the military and law enforcement. What part of that definition don't you understand?

Edit to add link to Remington site for model 11-87 used by military and law enforcement

7. I will vote for Kerry but Kerry did sponsor a bill that would ban
semiautomatic shotguns. Are you trying to deny that fact?

8. It Does Not Interest Me At All, Sir
They wrangle about this sort of thing down in the Justice forum at all hours, and that is the place for it.

Since you are going to vote for President Kerry, it must not make much difference to you, either. It will probably not make much difference to many people.

13. Nope, not bullshit.
However, I believe that Senator Kerry was oblivious to the fact that he was voting for a bill that would ban tons of hunting/skeet/trap/sporting clays shotguns. Somebody on his staff really dropped the ball. It was an accident.

do I believe Kerry knew the arcane details of the semi-auto bill? - the answer is NO.

The ammo bill rumor about "banning all ammo" is hokum, though.

FWIW, Benelli has introduced two specialty turkey-hunting semi-auto shotguns that use a dreaded pistolgrip (both of which would be banned under the referenced semi-auto bill):

12. He did
Kerry probably didnt get involved heavily into the details of either bill. The question is, can you stomach a vote for bush over that one issue?

Despite all the clamoring down here, most of us are not single issue voters.

14. Locking
DU is much more interested in winning the election tomorrow than throwing bricks at the candidate. You may cast the verbal stones at President Kerry post his inauguration.
