2. Well I guess that campaign worked
you know the one, telling firearm owners that bullets come out of the end with the hole and travel very very fast lolol

4. Accidental shootings?
How about intentional shootings? see, as a gun owner, I personally think most "accidents" are completely bogus, (I was cleaning my gun and didn't know there was a round in the chamber, I thought my wife was a deer, etc.) You have to be willing to believe that someone can be careful and methodical enough to disassemble a firearm, which is at least as difficult as many of the tasks on an IQ test, but would be careless enough to forget a bullet left in the chamber and just so happened to have the barrel pointing at someone's head. It's the perfect crime, because a guilty verdict must be proved beyond a reasonable doubt, and how can you reasonably doubt that someone might be stupid?

If Scott Petersen had the foresight to take his wife on a hunting trip instead of going fishing, well, I betcha he'd still be a free man.

12. Accidental shooting accidental killing.
And, being a part-time instructor, I can attest to the fact that there are many, many people who own guns but shouldn't due to their lack of knowledge re. safety, storage and gun-handling.

(many of them are cops. <snicker>)

6. From 2002 to 2003 total accidental deaths declined
from 106,742 to 101,537 (decline of 4.88%) and firearm related deaths declined from 762 to 700 (decline of 8.14%).
Source data for 2002

I wonder what effect improvements in emergency room treatment had in the overall decline in accidental deaths?
