Cabin Republicans surely the Dems should have a gun rights lobby organization!

6. all depends
on whether you think an outfit organized for pretty much the sole purpose of pursuing the self-aggrandizement and agenda of a loonytarian is "Bushie" or not.

Maybe he takes votes from Republicans ... maybe he takes votes from Democrats ... who knows?

Badnarik is the loony in question. He's in the company of Rostcheck and Krick, about whom you may read here:
http://www.pinkpistols.org/answers2001/krick.html
http://www.pinkpistols.org/answers2001/answers.html

But you're right about them not being a Democratic group, that's for sure.

As I've said before:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=118&topic_id=90711#91314

(Especially since the votes that said candidate is blatantly attempting to suck up, by advertising his commitment to such things as reproductive rights and same-sex marriage and downplaying his opposition to, oh, public schools and medicaid, to the point of invisibility, are votes that might reasonably be expected to be sucked away from Kerry and not from Bush.)

8. There are plenty of Democrats in the NRA...
the NRA leans repub at the national level but is a lot more bipartisan at the state level. Here's the first page of the NRA endorsements for state office here in NC this past election:

Governor--Mike Easley, Democrat (endorsed over "A" rated Repub)
Lt. Governor--Beverly Perdue, Democrat
Attorney General--Roy Cooper, Democrat (endorsed over a pro-gun repub)

State Senate
District 1--Marc Basnight, Democrat
District 2--Scott Thomas, Democrat(endorsed over "A" rated repub)
District 3--Clark Jenkins, Democrat
District 4--Robert Holloman, Democrat(unopposed)
District 5--no endorsement
District 6--Cecil Hargett, Jr., Democrat(over "A" rated repub)
District 7--no endorsement
District 8--R.C. Soles, Jr., Democrat
etc.

I suspect that if the national Democratic leadership ceased the crusade to ban nonhunting guns, you'd see a more bipartisan slate of national endorsements as well. (The above Dems here in NC are all pro-gun.)

Had Howard Dean not jumped on the ban-nonhunting-guns bandwagon during the primary, and won the nomination, I suspect he would have had a very good chance of getting the NRA endorsement over Bush (who would probably rate about a "C-" on gun rights).

9. My Congressman Rahall, a Dem is one of the top NRA pac recipients
I for one would really like to see a Dem that was stronger on gun rights than the Republicans just to see if the NRA would support them.
