Poll suggests 'optimism' in Gaza

Palestinians believe the withdrawal will boost their economy
A new opinion poll suggests most Palestinians in Gaza believe their economic situation will improve as a result of the Israeli withdrawal.

But the poll also suggests a majority of Palestinians fear an escalation of internal power struggles between different factions in Gaza.

The institute conducted a face-to-face survey of 875 Palestinians in Gaza.

38% think it should continue
67% think that "military operations from the Gaza Strip against Israel" should cease
33% oppose those strikes
