9. Islamic Jihad

claims responsibility after the slaying in a shootout of one of its 'military' leaders

real good. a terror leader gets killed and then Islamic Jihad kills civilians in retaliation.

if they were so outraged why didnt they attack a military target.

only one word for the leaders of the Islamic Jihad....COWARDS.

if they want suicide bombers why dont they do it themselves. and why deliberately and intentionally attack civilians trying to do maximum damage?

if a military leader was killed in a shoot out why dont they retaliate against the military?

cowards. the only word for terrorists like the Islamic Jihad

Edited on Wed Oct-26-05 12:45 PM by eyl
Suicide bombings (particulary inside the Green Line) usually can't be put together this quickly; much more likely this attacked was planned & prepared before he was killed, and IJ "assigned" it as a retaliatory attack.

EDITED TO ADD: More likely, the attack was due to the tenth anniversary of the death of Fathi Shkaki

10. At least five killed in Hadera suicide bombing - Haaretz

A suicide bomber exploded in the open air market in the coastal city of Hadera a little before 4 P.M. Wednesday afternoon, killing at least five people and wounding 30 others.

Five people were said to be in serious condition; another four sustained moderate wounds.

The explosion occurred in front of a felafel stand at the entance to the market in downtown Hadera, a city that has been a frequent target of attacks during the past five years of violence.

Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack soon after the blast, saying the bombing was retaliation for the death of its military leader, Luay Sa'adi, in an Israel Defense Forces raid in the West Bank several days ago.

Edited to comply with the "doctrine of fair use" ...

11.  Five die in Israel market bombing - BBC

At least five people have been killed and up to 30 wounded in what police say was a suicide bomb attack in the Israeli northern town of Hadera.

The blast happened near a food stand in the town's busy market place, a scene of previous attacks, police say.

Ambulances rushed to the scene to treat the wounded, as security forces sealed off the town, Israeli media reports.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad said it carried out the attack in revenge for Israel's killing of its senior leader.

13. Suicide Bombing Kills at Least 5, Israeli Police Say, New York Times, 10/2

JERUSALEM, Oct. 26 - A Palestinian suicide bomber detonated his explosives at an outdoor market in the Israeli coastal town of Hadera, killing at least five people and wounding more than two dozen, Israeli police said.

The powerful blast left the street covered with blood and overturned fruit crates as ambulances and rescue workers rushed to the market in Hadera, the scene of numerous terror attacks in recent years.

The Palestinian faction Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility and called it a response to the killing of a top Islamic Jihad leader on Sunday night in Tulkarm, a West Bank town about 10 miles southeast of Hadera.

The Palestinian leader, Mahmoud Abbas, condemned the bombing, saying in a statement that it "harms the Palestinian interests and could widen the cycle of violence, chaos, extremism and bloodshed."

19. U.S. demands Abbas rein in militants after attack
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N26634624.htm

WASHINGTON, Oct 26 (Reuters) - The White House on Wednesday demanded the Palestinian Authority rein in Palestinian militants after a suicide bomber killed five people in an Israeli coastal city.

White House spokesman Scott McClellan condemned the bombing as "a heinous attack on innocent civilians" and said "the Palestinian Authority needs to do more to end the violence and prevent terrorist attacks from being carried out."

McClellan said the attacks "only undermine the leadership of President Abbas" and said the Islamic Palestinian militant group Hamas should play no role in the Palestinian political process as long as they are armed.

"Our views on Hamas are very well known. Hamas is a terrorist organization. It needs to be disarmed. It needs to be dismantled. We've made that very clear and you can't have organizations involved in politics that are also carrying out attacks, or armed, outside of that political process," McClellan said.

20. Scotty has gone bonkers...
Hamas was a spectator in this operation. The bombing was special delivery from IJ, a misguided (but predictable) reprisal for the Israelis killing one of IJs "leaders".

As a side note, the land-grab barrier proved an utter failure in stopping the bomber in this instance. It has, however, succeeded in providing Israel with plenty of Arab land (sans Arabs).
