1. Some interesting bits in that. |
|
The usual unfortunate lack of precision, the usual botched job.

Incompetence is the worst of failings.
It has long been a matter of some puzzlement to me the Israelis did not kill this fellow, but to finally take aim at him and then to miss is the worst they might have done. There is always a legendary aspect to such creatures; this will only reinforce belief he is guided and protected by diety, both among his followers, and in his own busy little mind.

if Palestinians attempted to kill the more zealous Jewish "spiritual leaders" in the west bank and in Israel proper. The more death squads the merrier.

I've asked the question before.
on edit: I disagree that either of these actions are smart though, the only way you can handle religious idiots is by ignoring them. If you attack them it just vindicates their persecution complex and more people sympathize with them.

unless you want to green light going after Gush Eminum rabbi's I'd be careful with statements like that.

Live by the sword and all that. But better they should die frustrated in their sleep, on both sides.
But, I agree that the whole business is stupid. A few more dead one way or another won't fix anything.
I've been toying with the idea that Sharon feels short of time or something, he seems to be going all out. "The gloves are off" as someone said.

if these people are as skilled as some say they are, how did they botch this? If they aren't as skilled, then why does Israel make them carry out these strikes in areas where the chance of collateral damage is high?

His death is long overdue. Perhaps the next attempt will be more effective. I find it difficult to criticize brave IDF soldiers hunting killers.

10. Even the worst "botched job" that the IDF may encounter |
|
Will never ever even come close to the idiocy and pure evil that the latest bus bomber performed. Blowing up kids on a bus on purpose like the hamas does for fun should be the last straw for even the most humanistic Israel hater.
I personally hope for the complete and total destruction of hamas and any of their sister terror groups. They have been tolerated for far too long.

12. The Complete And Total Destruction Of Hamas, Mr. Dave |
|
Is certainly to be wished for. Since its members and leaders constitute combatants of an irregular nature, killing them is completely appropriate. It is unlikely, however, to result in the destruction of the movement from which these individuals spring, and likely to maintain a high level of popular support for them. The key to their destruction is to alter conditions so the mass of the people of Arab Palestine no longer identify with their violence. Then, the members of Hamas will experience great difficulties in operating, and even maintaining themselves alive at liberty. If "the guerrilla swims among the people like fish in the sea," clearly draining the sea offers the best hope for their destruction. This requires some level of concession, calculated to meet the aspirations of the great mass of the people, without being satisfactory to the most radical.
