Thanking G-d for the stroke
Edited on Mon Jan-09-06 06:03 PM by Behind the Aegis
If e-mails could kill, Ariel Sharon would not have lived past that first long night.

Let it be stressed, and stressed again, that the vast majority of letters from readers were, in fact, frank and full and heartfelt prayers for a stricken leader.

Let it be emphasized that the vast majority of those who disagreed entirely with Sharon's policies and actions, be they Jewish, Muslim or Christian, still were most forthcoming in wishes for his survival and recovery.

Then there were the others.

They came from all over. Vile, snide letters, incomparably cowardly pot shots at an elderly man fighting for his life.

1. Don't fret. He didn't care in life for anyone who was against his
plans for a greater Israel. He went moderate at the end. His enemies were likely much more vocal every day of his conscious life than they are today.

Nobody should jump on the end of a man's life. But he was in the industry of power. He did some stuff. He likely thought better of it in the end. I'm sure Israel would redo the 1980s and 1990s if they could. They felt they could not do anything but what they did at the time. Who knows.

Don't take it personal. He was a politician in a country at war. It happens.

2. I just want tell my two dear "DU: I/P Forum" Friends
That the Red Cross (including me) will be there for you - to feed you, cloth you, shelter you - when all hades breaks lose on the Hayward Fault. I don't care if we have disagreed here - you are in peril - I am there - I am first, last, and always - a United States Coast Guard veteran and a Red Cross/Crescent/Star of David/Crystal volunteer

3. Thanks for the article.
It's hardly surprising.

I'm no Sharon fan, but I am a human being. The way we react to such occurrences says more about us as individuals than the person we're condemning to hell or great suffering in our prayers.
