Officer dismissed following Air Force orgy
Female soldier has sex with 13 comrades at IAF base; non-commissioned officer in charge dismissed for failing to stop orgy

http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-3201031,00.html

"The findings of an internal inquiry into an orgy between an IDF female soldier and 13 male comrades at an Israel Air Force base has prompted IDF Chief of General Staff Lit.-Gen. Dan Halutz to dismiss a non-commissioned officer (NCO) who failed to report the incident to his military superiors, Israel’s leading newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported.

According to a military probe, a female soldier had sex with 13 servicemen while on duty at an IAF base two years ago but failed to seduce the non-commissioned officer in charge into engaging in oral sex.

Based on the inquiry’s findings Halutz decided to dismiss the 42-year-old NCO for “inappropriate conduct," stating that he failed to stop the orgy and did not report the incident to his superiors.

The NCO submitted a petition to the High Court asking that Halutz’ decision be reversed and that he be allowed to resume military duty."

1. I don't understand, she was simply servicing the troops and aiding morale.
:hi:

3. I'd be curious as to what action, if any, was brought against...
Edited on Sat Jan-21-06 10:06 PM by Dunvegan
...the orgy participants.

If they were not discliplined to at least the level of the non-squealing or afraid to whistleblow NCO...I have to call "shul-bet"...i.e., bullsh!t.

Slamming the non-participant that may have been afraid to speak probably should be a lesser charge than participating in the action.

Is there any more detailed information on this story available?

Postscript: True of Any Army...If you restrict an army from fraternization with civilians...well, don't be surprised that they figure out that they have only the alternative to explore.

12. The NCO's role was not to be a whistle-blower ....
it was to be in charge, to lead, to maintain discipline, and to set the correct example. Failure in this responsibility leads to corrective actions being taken. Makes sense.

16. An NCO has the responsibility
to maintain discipline among his troops. For him to know about this situation and not report it is at least as bad as what the other soldiers did (I should note that this is a violation of IDF regs even if all the participants consented, as seems to be the case according to the article). As well, more is expected of him due to his seniority. Besides that, the NCO is a keva* soldier, while the others are most likely still conscripts; discharge usually isn't a punishment given to the latter.

About your postscript, I'm not sure where you got that the IDF forbids fraternization with civilians...

5. Police Appear Handcuffed As Mob Feud Rages in Israel
JERUSALEM — The anti-crime division of Israel's national police was under pressure to produce answers this week after a Netanya neighborhood was hit by an anti-tank missile apparently aimed at a reputed organized-crime boss.

No one was hurt in the December 22 missile attack, which left a large crater in the street outside the home of alleged crime kingpin Assi Abutbul. Neighbors complained that the missile narrowly missed destroying a residential building. Abutbul and several bodyguards were questioned and released.

The blast appeared to be the latest incident in a continuing gang war that has left a string of bodies across Israel, Europe and South America in the past five years, as rival Israeli crime families struggle for control of lucrative gambling operations.

The war pits Abutbul and a Tel Aviv-based ally, Ze'ev Rosenstein, against two rival clans: the Abarjil family, based in Lod, and a smaller Tel Aviv-area faction, the Alperons. Two Abarjil brothers, Itzik and Meir, have escaped repeated shooting attacks in recent years.

10. Yup, all women are completely innocent
and are forced into situations like this. Women do not have thoughts like this as they are pure as the fresh white snow.

8. This is a little different from the Tailhook scandal...
...at least from the story as mentioned, if (and only "if") the female was a completely consenting party to the party.

If this female soldier sent out the invitations with complete free will, that's one type of scandal.

If she was coerced or restrained or raped or under duress...then we would have a Tailhook-type assault.

The "failed to seduce" part, if not spin, does not sound that way.
Of course people do lie in these situations ...

I hope the young lady comes out OK.
