Amb. to U.S. raps Washington Post, LA Times for Hamas op-eds
http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/678611.html

<snip>

"Israel's ambassador to the United States, Danny Ayalon, dispatched a letter of protest to influential national daily newspapers The Washington Post and the Los Angeles Times in response to their publishing of guest columns by Hamas political bureau chief Khaled Meshal and his deputy, Moussa Abu Marzouk, Israel Radio reported on Saturday.

In addressing the editors of both publications, Ayalon said that while he holds freedom of the press in high regard, he expects a newspaper to distinguish between legitimate national claims and incitement to hatred.

The ambassador noted that the U.S. government classifies the Islamic group as a terrorist organization. For both newspapers to provide a respectable forum to those who seek Israel's destruction is inconceivable, Israel Radio quoted Ayalon as saying."

1. I have no doubt print retractions and apologies.
And then print a hundred op-eds in favor of Israeli polcies in the coming year.
What bullshit. Can't let Palestinians speak for themselves... not in the USA.
The butcher Sharon got all kinds of ink and his spokespeople were on tv all the time, and he was widely regarded as a butcher.

2. Since when is the US media expected to be able
to tell the difference between legitimate dialogue and incitement to hatred?
Although thr LaTimes and WaPo are a little better than most of the pack, it's been many years since the "media" could even tell spin from fact.
