A Danish paper publishes a cartoon that mocks Muslims.
An Iranian paper responds with a Holocaust cartoons contest -
- Now a group of Israelis announce their own anti-Semitic cartoons contest!

Amitai Sandy (29), graphic artist and publisher of Dimona Comix Publishing, from Tel-Aviv, Israel, has followed the unfolding of the “Muhammad cartoon-gate” events in amazement, until finally he came up with the right answer to all this insanity - and so he announced today the launch of a new anti-Semitic cartoons contest - this time drawn by Jews themselves!

“We’ll show the world we can do the best, sharpest, most offensive Jew hating cartoons ever published!” said Sandy “No Iranian will beat us on our home turf!”

1) the Danish cartoons can be considered as blasphemy (by Muslim standards) but to see them as a violently anti-arabic (racially) is preposterous. One of them maybe, but absolutely not the others. Blasphemy is not longer criminal in the West, even if some old laws can still exist, but are not applied. Remember that the original protesters in Denmark tried to use an old blasphemy law to attack the paper, not discrimination laws.

2) Nobody would be really offended if someone made a cartoon about Moses, Abraham, Noah etc... or even for example about a a confused rabbi celebrating Christmas, playing on religious themes, except some Christian fundies. Depicting Jews as a group as a blood-thirsty, money-hungry bunch or making "fun" of the holocaust is completely different.

the Islamic fundies want to pass the message "Koran-blasphemy = racial hatred" to justify their deeds. There are Muslims from very different ethnies, the same for Christians. The claim is preposterous.

So anti-semitic cartoons cannot be an answer even coming from Jews.

3. You are right.. There is no "answer"

to the insanity of screaming death threats, killilng people, burning embassies, and rioting----over a bunch of cartoons. Still, the best RESPONSE I can think of, is to poke fun at it, to laugh at it. The Israelis with their "contest" are trying to do exactly that. Everyone, pro and con the cartoons, is taking it too seriously. I know this is due to the violence witnessed, and resultant disgust or fear, but a little Mark Twain style mockery would do a lot of good here.
