Russia says Israeli attempts to isolate Hamas unconstructive
MOSCOW, Feb 18 (KUNA) -- Russia said on Saturday the Israeli and western attempts to isolate the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which has made a landslide legislative victory securing 74 seats out of the 132-seat Palestinian Legislative Council (parliament) were "unconstructive." Anatoly Safonov, Special Presidential Representative for International Cooperation in combating terrorism said in a statement carried by the Russian Interfax news agency that doors should be left open before the new Palestinian Authority to express itself.

He added that his country does not accept the method followed by Hamas military wing, but stressed that due to its parliamentary win, which allowed it for a mandate to form the new government, the movement should be given a chance to move ahead. (end) as.
