Hamas, Fatah leaders call for calm after 3 dead in Gaza clashes
By Arnon Regular, Haaretz Correspondent, Haaretz Service and Reuters

Hamas and Fatah leaders called for calm Monday, after clashes between armed supporters of the two groups in the Gaza Strip left three people dead.

The Hamas militant and two Fatah gunmen were
killed overnight when members of the two groups opened fire with assault rifles and an anti-tank missile in the most serious outbreak of fighting between the rival organizations since Hamas took power. At least 11 others were wounded, medical personnel said.

Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh, of Hamas, called for restraint Monday.

"I have issued direct and firm instructions to the Interior Ministry to take all necessary measures to end the bloodshed and tension, using all Palestinian security forces to ensure these events do not continue or spread to other areas," he told reporters in Gaza

2. theres more.....
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20060509/wl_nm/mideast_gaza_dc

The witnesses said Tuesday's clash occurred when hundreds of gunmen roamed the streets of Gaza City's Tuffah neighborhood.

Four of the nine people wounded were Palestinian teenagers on their way to school, said medical staff. Three gunmen were also among the wounded

this has nothing whatsoever to do with israel....completely an internal matter......

dare they ask the questions?....or does the religion of "67 greenline border" forbid such blasphemous questions?

4. Abbas talks out of both sides of his mouth.
He goes to Norway, hat in hand, promising peace talks with Israel to get a pledge of money. Never mind Hamas---they're not a problem, says Abbas.

In the meantime Fatah and Hamas are hammering it out. The people, in the meantime, are screwed.

Peace will not break out until this mini-civil war is resolved between the two parties.

5. An interesting observation...
All bar one of the posters in this thread only react to Palestinian deaths if and only if those deaths are caused by other Palestinians. They're very noticeable by their habit of steering clear of any thread where the deaths of Palestinians have been caused by Israeli settlers or troops. Wonder why? ;)

Violet...

...Some only post in threads of Palestinian deaths, if and only if, they occur by Israelis. They are very noticeable by their steering clear of ANY thread where the deaths OR injuries have been caused by other Palestinians. Wonder why? :) (on edit: well, unless they are drawing attention to something OTHER THAN the topic.)
