Defense Minister Amir Peretz ordered an investigation Sunday morning into the deaths of three Palestinian civilians who were killed Saturday during IDF activities in the Gaza Strip.

On Saturday the IAF carried out the targeted assassination of Muhammad Dahdouh, a senior leader of the Islamic Jihad’s armed wing who is considered one of the experts in manufacturing al-Quds rockets. In the explosion, three other civilians were killed: a four-year old boy, his mother Hanan Aman and grandmother Naima Aman. A number of other civilians were also wounded, including the boy’s sister.

2. Palestinian deaths prompt inquiry

The Israeli defence ministry has ordered an inquiry into the killing of a Palestinian family in Gaza.

Three generations of the family died when their car was caught in a missile blast during an attack on a militant.

The militant, Mohammed al-Dahdouh of Islamic Jihad, who was in a separate vehicle, was killed in the air strike.

At the funeral, a man who survived the attack said he had lost the greatest things in his life - his wife, his son and his mother.

His three-year-old daughter suffered severe injuries, and is in hospital in Gaza City, with her spinal cord severed.

3. Gaza strike brings family tragedy

The small figure of Mariyah Amin lies in intensive care in a Gaza City hospital.

A fragment of shrapnel from an Israeli rocket has severed her spinal cord, and she will never move her arms or legs again.

In fact Mariyah will never even breathe again - at least not on her own.

Tubes link her to an artificial respirator, and every few seconds it fills her lungs. This is how it will have to be for the rest of her life - and she is only three years old.

Just a day earlier, Mariyah had been on her way across Gaza City to visit her auntie. Her whole family was in the car with her.
