Lawyer who filed suit against Almog to be deported
From YNet News, emphasis mine:

State Prosecution bars Attorney Kate Maynard, who submitted war crimes lawsuit in Britain against former Southern Command chief, from entering Israel, despite court's recommendation against deportation

Going against a recommendation issued by the Tel Aviv District Court, the State Prosecution decided Thursday evening to bar British lawyer Kate Maynard, who was behind the war-crimes charges against retired Israeli Major-General Doron Almog, from entering Israel. Maynard was ordered by the Prosecution to return to the UK immediately.

Maynard, who specializes in human rights and international law, was behind the lawsuit to arrest Almog upon his arrival in Britain last September.

At the time, Almog was advised by the Israeli Embassy in London to not leave the plane and to return to Israel immediately.

"The state has reached new restriction limits by using security explanations to limit academic freedom of expression," said Ben-Natan.

1. Can't help but notice the similarities between this and James Moore...
...being put on the Homeland Security's "No-Fly" for nothing more than being the author of "Bush's Brain: How Karl Rove Made George W. Bush Presidential". The transmutation of political enmity into implications of unpatriotic behavior at best, terrorist affiliation at worst is very concerning. In itself, it is a brand of extremism.

2. That's astounding.
But yet, also utterly predictable. It's just another eg of a 'pariah state', in this case Isreal,
protecting it's own war criminals. It won't do anything to delay the inevitable, Almog will, one
day, face prosecution for his decisions;

Israel/Occupied Territories: Demolition of houses is an act of collective punishment

Amnesty International today condemned the demolition of dozens of homes in Rafah, in the south of the Gaza Strip, as an act of collective punishment and a grave breach of international humanitarian law.

After four Israeli soldiers were killed on 9 January 2002 in an attack by Hamas on a military post on the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip, the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) entered Rafah with tanks and bulldozers and demolished houses.

"Six hundred people, most of them children, were left homeless in this raid against quarters that had no relationship with the attack on the military post," said Amnesty International.

The demolition of houses is one of the acts considered a grave breach of the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War which prohibits: "Any destruction by the Occupying Power of real or personal property belonging individually or collectively to private persons, or to the State, or to other public authorities, or to social or cooperative organizations ... except where such destruction is rendered absolutely necessary by military operations."
