Israel turns down cease-fire proposal from Palestinian PM

Sunday, July 9, 2006 Posted: 1800 GMT (0200 HKT)

GAZA CITY (CNN) -- Israel continued military actions Sunday as part of an operation aimed at securing the release of an Israeli soldier and ending Palestinian attacks against Israel, after rejecting a cease-fire proposed by the Palestinian Prime Minister Saturday.

3. umm, perhaps because it deserves to be in LBN...
just because a handful of reactionary assholes can't discuss something without miring it in a flamewar doesn't mean I can't be disgusted that relevant breaking news is shoved down into a forum which ironically is rarely frequented by anyone except those same reactionary assholes...

4. maybe that is why it is down here?
or maybe it is down here because the rules are more strict about is allowed and what isn't. Or maybe it is down here because people don't know how to properly discuss this topic.

I still don't get why it 'chaps your ass?' Anyone can post here, even non-donors. It is viewable to guests. So, why does it matter that it is here?

6. *sigh* don't be disingenuous.
I see that you are a frequent poster in this forum. And nice little dig about "non donors"; my star just expired and I have been here for years, since the beginning actually before I switched usernames b/c my candidate related handle became irrelevant.

However in terms of visibility of important world events, I find it sad really that breaking news can't be in breaking news just because it happens to be I/P related. I've been here long enough to lament some of the unfortunate changes that the admins were forced to make, regardless of whether or not I personally agree with them. I place the blame firmly with those who are overly reactionary and can't abide civil discourse regarding serious world events. Good day to you.

8. no dig implied.
I didn't even realize you didn't have a donor star, until after I posted. I have posted the exact same thing (well, similar) to others who complain about things getting sent to the "dungeon." So, it wasn't a 'dig' at you, but a statement of fact.

I have only been here two years, so I have always known the I/P forum. I wasn't here when I/P issues were posted all over the place. So, I had nothing to do with the creation of this forum. I find myself agreeing with you that there are those who cannot discuss serious world events, especially Israel, in a civil manner. There are examples all over DU.

Now, despite it not being in LBN, why have you yet to discuss this serious world issue, but only lament over which forum in which it was placed?

5. I agree . It is a way, big, kick ass issue.
IMO, it should be heavily monitored and completely out in the front. I just felt compelled to back up your feelings on this. I don't normally throw myself into giving my opinion about anything that has the potential to get blasted (I have confrontational issues, lol), but once in a blue moon, it's worth it.
