Iran lacks a common border with Israel and has no power projection capabilities. That they would issues some blood curdling fatwas is a given

PNAC game plan. The need Syria and Lebanon to combine with Iraq for headed for their goal of 6 countries invaded. Iraq, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Libya and Sudan. It's in the plan check it out.

7. Those treaties are toothless, not unlike the Arab League
and I don't buy the PNAC conspiracy theories. Those countries are quite capable of massive screwups without outside assistance.

9. Yep its Iran alright...
"Israel: Hezbollah Aims To Move Captured Soldiers To Iran

JERUSALEM (AP)--Israel has information that Lebanese guerrillas who captured two Israeli soldiers are trying to transfer them to Iran, Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said.

Regev didn't disclose the source of his information.

Hezbollah guerrillas, who are backed by Iran, seized the soldiers Wednesday in a cross-border raid. Israel has since attacked Lebanon by air and sea, and has sent in troops to look for the captured soldiers. "

10. And Syria????
" Israel Points Finger at Iran, Syria
17:59 Jul 13, '06 / 17 Tammuz 5766

(IsraelNN.com) A senior government official has blamed Syria for providing "shelter and logistical support for Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal" and noted that Iran provides Hizbullah terrorists with funds and weapons.

Gideon Meir, Foreign Ministry Deputy Director-General for Public Affairs, said that Mashaal commands Arab terrorists in Judea, Samaria and Gaza. Mashaal also is involved with the Hizbullah rocket attacks and kidnapping of IDF soldier Gilad Shalit near Gaza last month and two IDF soldiers abducted Wednesday, Meir added.

"For all practical purposes, Hizbullah is merely an arm of the Teheran Jihadist regime," he told reporters Thursday. "Iran has also made considerable inroads of influence into Palestinian terrorist organization, including Fatah's al-Aqsa Brigade and Hamas's Iz a-Din al-Kassam group. It provides their terror cells with funding, technical instruction and operational directives" as part of an effort to destroy the State of Israel."

16. Baiting Iran??? when they bomb LEBANON'S airbase? LOL.
That's one of the funniest excuses yet. So now, when Iran gets involved, it's Israel's fault too.

3. Their bait will hook more than Iran. Both Europe and Japan
Edited on Thu Jul-13-06 09:06 AM by jwirr
get their oil supply from the middle east while we get most of ours from Central/South America and Canada. Neither Europe or Japan is going to set around forever waiting for this to stop.

Several things could happen: first they could side with Iran and other oil producers in the ME or we will push them closer to Russia so that they can get their oil from there. Either way, the so called goal we have in the ME will backfire on us.

8. Isn't the Bekka Valley pretty damn close to Syria?
It now appears that full-scale war between Israel and Lebanon is a given - how long before Syria comes in?

12. I doubt that Syria will willingly engage in a hot war with Israel.
Emphasis on "willingly". And the IDF would most likely be relieved to have a conventional enemy that it could decisively "defeat". So it seems more likely that Syria will be dragged in, if that happens. I would expect Syria to try to stay on the sidelines while. supporting Lebanese resistance and increasing it's influence there, as it did last time.

13. it seems to me
that syria would rather have its proxy, hizbollah do the fighting for them. that way they can claim innocence if israel strikes syria to root out hizbollah.

14. Israel will attack them whether or not they claim "innocence"...
so they gain nothing by hiding behind Hizbollah.
