residents of Haifa have been ordered to go into bomb shelters
Edited on Fri Jul-14-06 08:57 AM by sabbat hunter
Israeli TV reports that residents of Haifa have been ordered to go into bomb shelters, The Associated Press reports.

full headline would not fit in subject....... cut for length.

reports coming out that the residenst of haifa have been ordered to go into bomb shelters. the only reason i can think of is that more rockets are expected from the hizbollah to be launched there.

more as details become available

1. The good people of Haifa are considerably safer than
the residents of Beirut. I'm not sure if anyone's been killed by the jerry built rockets but dozens of civilians have been killed by the Israeli military attacks on Lebanon.

"Hezbollah attacks on northern Israel have killed two civilians, the IDF said, and more than 100 Israelis have been wounded in the attacks."

3. That means the IDF must kill several hundred Arabs in reprisal.
They must pay & pay they shall.

4. Thank you.
Some keep accusing the Israelis of killing children when they respond to missile attacks and the kidnapping of their soldiers (from within Israel's border, btw). Does anyone honestly believe those who want to see Israel wiped off the earth and every Jew dead are not TRYING to kill Israelis including babies and children?

Out of "more than 100" in Haifa wounded by Hezbollah rocket attacks, some of those victims are seriously injured, likely crippled or blinded -- and I suspect at least one or two of that 100 are not adults.

If they'll kill and maim a few, they've shown they're willing and trying to kill and maim many.

Imagine switching Israel's arsenal to their enemies possession and ask yourself how things would look in the Middle East then? Can you say "obliteration"? I doubt there'd be any concentration/death camps because that would mean Jews were being allowed to live for a few months longer -- unacceptable, even if they could be useful as slave labor and objects of medical experiments (read "torture victims").

5. I suspect that the Israelis would be more interested in negotiation
if they couldn't send their war machine out to kill defenseless civilians.

6. Do Hezbollah and those who back and supply them seem interested
in "negotiation"?

Do they -- or Hamas or any other wing of suicide bomber cults -- carefully avoid killing defenseless and innocent civilians when they take out coffee shops, busses and diners in the heart of Israeli cities?

7. i suspect israelie would be more interesting in negotiation
if hamas/hizbollah/et al werent committing acts of terror by launching rockets into israel on a daily basis.

9. Wouldn't negotiation
have been a better option than the mindless reprisal Israel is carrying out in Lebanon? How does the response to H'zbollah enhance Israeli security or advance the cause of peace? What if israel had acted the part of 'grownup', and instead of mounting an attack on Lebanon, sent a strongly worded communique to that government, demanding the return of their soldiers and the arrests and extradition of those responsible? Yeah, it might not have worked, but they could also have offered to work with the Lebanese gov't. If the Lebanese gov't was incapable or unwilling to take action, Israel would have a much stronger case for needing to take action itself.

10. underlying optimism
I was going to place a sarcasm tag but sincerity is my trademark....

Let's play pretend that you are a Black Family on the Mississipi delta, the year is 1953, all of your neighbors are white trash rednecks and guess what, they don't like you and once a week they put on their best sheets and have a meeting to figure out how to influence your decision to leave their little corner of the universe..........

Fast Forward and now imagine yourself as Israel surrounded by a much bigger and even more hate-filled community of racists.....who have all proclaimed the intent to erase all Israeli Men, Women, and Children from the face of the earth...

Welcome to the Middle East.

12. I think your analogy works only if you substitute native Americans for
white trash.

13. to answer your question...
hizballa has been attacking israel for the last 6 years. if you havent heard much about it, its because israel has been restraining "itself"....and the result is 8 dead + 2 kidnapped, this time. This was hardly the first time they've tried or killed. And do you really think if there is negotiation and the soldiers are returned, they wont try again?

let me help: of course they would....and again....and again...and again.

israel could have done some preemptive attack to thwart the plans..but then we all know what the reaction would be..dont we?

options?..the lebanese govt has "agreed to let hizballa run their own little fiefdome down there, the lebanese army is not welcome there, hence whether or not the lebanese govt has the will or not, to change the situation it is they who are responsable for the happenings of s. lebanon.

and we also know that they dont have any influence on hizballa for any "negotiation"....that leaves precious little alternatives. The best one, advocated by many lebanese bloggers is for israel to destroy the hizballa, and give lebanon back to the lebanese.

-----

and cali....i assume your kidding:
instead of mounting an attack on Lebanon, sent a strongly worded communique to that government, demanding the return of their soldiers and the arrests and extradition of those responsible? Yeah,

14. i guess
that means you either disagree and are unable to offer a counter-point or you have a different agenda.....

My opinion boils down to a paste....

Israel fights every day for existence (survival), I wish all people well that simply wish to survive..

I condemn any bully that seeks to kill based on race.......

don't bother to reply, i am done with this thread....
