Just 3 simple questions for Israel
Since they look like they might be kicking off WWIII and our kids will be caught completely in the middle of this shit.

1. What were your soldiers doing on Lebanon's side of the border at the time your soldiers were abducted?

http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Middle_East/HG15Ak02.html

"It all started on July 12 when Israel troops were ambushed on Lebanon's side of the border with Israel. Hezbollah, which commands the Lebanese south, immediately seized on their crossing. They arrested two Israeli soldiers, killed eight Israelis and wounded over 20 in attacks inside Israeli territory."

2. According to your main paper, it looks like you planned the detention of Hamas officials long before your soldiers were taken hostage.

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/732528.html

"The detention of Hamas parliamentarians in the early hours of Thursday morning had been planned several weeks ago and received approval from Mazuz on Wednesday. "

3. And what about this incident that the entire media is ignoring:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,,1794432,00.html

"Seven killed as Israeli shells hit family picnic on Gaza beach"

I mean - it's just a few simple questions from some of us Americans. We deserve and answer - haven't we've done enough for you guys?

So much for the Gaza beach massacre. What do you have to say about the lousy media coverage about it?

2. About #2....
So what if detaining Hamas officials was planned weeks in advance? If they were planning and implementing attacks on Israel, they should be behind bars. Maybe you'd prefer Israel shoot them all?

5. about #1
Your source is wrong. Hizbollah initiated the attack AT the border and then took 2 Israelis hostage. From the Jerusalem Post:

"In a meticulously-planned attack by the Hizbullah, terrorists infiltrated into Israel early Wednesday morning and fired anti-tank rockets at an IDF patrol along the western border near Zarit, killing three soldiers and abducting another two. Later a tank, sent in to search for the abducted troops, drove over a large explosive device."

There is nothing out in the media that counters this information. Again, your source is wrong.

3. Those questions begin with a falsehood.
H'zbollah crossed the border into Israel, killed 3 soldiers and abducted 2 others. An Israeli tank crossed the border in pursuit and was blown up killing 4 or 5. These facts are not in dispute.

The second question is a good one.

The third makes a false claim. The death of the family on the beach was widely covered in the US media. It got an unusual amount of coverage. The NYT, WP, LAT and every other major paper published above the fold photos and stories. The major networks made it their lead story. That said, firing rockets into areas where civilian density is so high (all of Gaza) is inexcusable.

4. some answers

1 the IDF soldiers were on the israeli side...your info is wrong.

2. the IDF has contigency plans for all kinds of scenarios...be it attacks from egypt, jordan, syria etc...thata what responsable govts and their armies do. The israeli public expects no less.

3. The explosion on the beach has quite a few reasonable explanations, could have been an israeli shell from earlier shelling, could have been a mine planted by the various jihadnikim...people get killed in wars, thats why they should be avoided. perhaps your question should be why were the Palestinians shooting kassams across the border from the very day that israel left gaza and every day since?....which resulted in israeli shelling in return.

any other questions?

6. In order
#1 As has been said, the initial strike took place on the Israeli side of the border (some of the 8 dead soldiers were, I believe, killed on the Lebenese side when they went in pursuit of the kidnapees)

#2 it's called contingency planing

#3 Ignoring? You haven't been paying much attention, I gather.

Besides, the operation to kidnap Shalit was begun months before that incident (at least two months, with some estimates being as high as six), and Hizbullah has been attempting to kidnap soldiers ever since the IDF withdrew in 2000 (they succeeded once before, and have made at least two serious attempts just in the last six months or so).
