A reminder about what Hezbollah is
Today is the 12th anniversary of the AMIA bombing in Buenos Aires, Argentina. For those of you who have a short memory, in 1994, a bomb exploded in the Jewish community center building in Buenos Aires that left 100 people dead (mostly children) and 250 wounded. The attack was planned and carried out by the cute and cuddly freedom fighters just trying to protect their Lebanese brethren from the mean Israelis.

2. And so.....
....it's okay to kill Lebanese that have nothing to do with Hezbollah?

As an American I want to know what do we owe the Israelis? Maybe you can answer that question?

3. And I wonder what we Americans can expect for the kidnapping
of hundreds, possibly thousands of Islamic people, most without cause or due process.

If what is going on in Lebanon is OK as payback for 2 people kidnapped, we in the US are signing our own death warrants for what our government is doing all over the world.

Sauce for the goose might mean trouble for the gander.

6. Is that why Israel bombed Christian sector of Beirut today?
We have reached the point in which it doesn't matter who started what in this ridiculous but deadly game of tit-for-tat. For all I know, the 3 captured IDF soldiers may well be dead already, and Israel may even know this, but strategic consideration being what they are they have chosen to keep the pretense that they are still alive.

We need a ceasefire, NOW!

I'd also like to know what you would do if someone were targetting you and hiding in civilian population, such as schools, hospitals, etc. Thirdly, do you have a link showing this hospital was bombed. I didn't see anything on the news on this.

Iran funded the mission. Hezbollah actually did the deed. Of course, that's exactly what is happening today to the good country of Lebanon.

The article is still appropriate for the forum since it deals with the financial backer of the terrorists who kidnapped the Israelis happens to have been the backer of the worst terrorist act in South American history. Happy?

24. The worst terrorist act in South America history? What about the
U.S. sponsored military coup against the democratically-elected government of Chile? That cost thousands of lives and resulted in a fascist regime. That's not terror? The terror of the Argentina regime against its own citizens?

28. You totally obfuscate the definition of terrorism
A coup is not an act of terrorism per se. Individual acts of terrorism may be employed as tactics of a coup attempt, but the coup itself is not terrorism. Were there any single incidents in the Chile coup that resulted in 350 killed or injured? The only one that comes close was probably the infamous Caravan of Death where a Pinochet death squad killed about 70 people in September 1973. What specific incident of terrorism (assuming a government death squad fits the definition) do you have in mind?

I stand by what I said. The bombing in Argentina was the single worst act of terrorism in South American history.

FYI - I have family in Chile AND Argentina (as well as Brazil). And as an immigration lawyer, I have represented Chilean dissidents in asylum petitions. So I am a little familiar with the topic.

How quickly a story about Hezb'Allah killing 95 children immediately shifts to "Israel brought it on itself". These were Jewish kids in ARGENTINA. Not Israel, Argentina. In a daycare center. And they were targeted intentionally because they were Jewish. I share the frustration and fear of several other posters here, and at the risk of being labeled a zioneohitlerfundycon, I am scared of certain elements on what I view as MY end of the political spectrum; that is to say the Left and all the good that it entails (equal rights, diplomacy, fair trade, etc. etc.) has its lunatic fringe that has picked up the mantle of extremist ideology and bigotry that the Right has tried so hard to hide from the world of late. Thankfully it is just a small fringe that think that way, but they do seem to shout loud enough to make themselves heard above everyone else.

25. Hizbollah says has duty to abduct Israeli troops
Lebanon's Hizbollah guerrilla group said today it had a duty to try to capture Israeli soldiers and swap them for Arab prisoners in Israel, hours after the Jewish state returned the remains of three fighters.

''Our experience with the Israelis shows that if you want to regain detainees or prisoners you have to capture Israeli soldiers,'' Hizbollah chief Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah told a rally in Beirut to mark the hand over of the bodies.

''It is not a shame, a crime or a terrorist act. It is our right and our duty which one day we might fulfil,'' he told thousands of supporters chanting ''death to Israel''.

Three coffins wrapped in Hizbollah's yellow-and-green flags were then brought into the hall where Nasrallah was speaking.
