Iran: Israel doomed to 'destruction'
Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, declared Sunday that Israel had "pushed the button of its own destruction" by launching its military campaign against the Iranian-backed Hizbullah in Lebanon.

"Britain and the United States are accomplices of the Zionist regime in its crimes in Lebanon and Palestine," said Ahmadinejad.

Last week, Ahmadinejad sent a letter to German Chancellor Angela Merkel that contained statements about Israel and the Holocaust that are "not acceptable," said German officials.

In Teheran, the government has sanctioned billboards showing Hizbullah leader Sheik Hassan Nasrallah and a message that it is the duty of Muslims to "wipe out" Israel.

14. US IS INVOLVED SENDING BOMBS!
WASHINGTON, July 21 — The Bush administration is rushing a delivery of precision-guided bombs to Israel, which requested the expedited shipment last week after beginning its air campaign against Hezbollah targets in Lebanon, American officials said Friday.

23. No shit?
How does Ahm-an-idjit running off at the mouth help the situation? Maybe if Israel had more of the warm-puppy feeling they would not quite so belligerent and stupid? I'm not defending this war or Israel, I'm just saying one belligerent asshole is no better than another. Ahm-an-idjit is fun to watch at times, but the truth is he's just another blowhard politician.

Speeding up delivery might help lower casualties as well. Your caps lock is stuck. ;)

22. Yeah, it has worked so well for us:(
I was just reading how more than 3,000 Iraqi civilians were killed in June alone. I doubt there is an Iraqi left alive who hasn't had someone close to them killed by US bombs. How can we ever expect peace from hearts so rightfully angered?

sounds like a declaration of war by the Iranians

4. I agree.
I would be happy if this asshole was dead tomorrow. He has to keep the anti-Jew base all riled up so that the student democracy movement can't take hold.

3. I don't get this guy, really
He talks, talks, talks about destruction but never does something about it with his own military. Is he waiting until they have a bomb, or is his game something else? Ideas?

he just says shit to whip up his anti-Jewish base, and partly he wants Israel gone because they are the only competition they have in the area. He is using Hezbollah to goad Israel into a wider scale conflict and keep the focus off of Iran. He is a fucking nut.

25. However, I have read
where Iranians are speaking out against their government's support of Hezbollah. That, in fact, was one of the reasons I didn't get why he was doing this.

30. He wants Sufis gone too
he sent the army to a Sufi center, destroyed it, arrested about 2000 peaceful demonstrators, calling them heretics with ties to the West (Sufi orders tend to be international). Some were tortured, and some have not been seen since.

6. Yes, it strikes me that..
.. Iran and Syria are hiding behind Hezbolla. I must say that really annoys me and I see it as totally cowardly. It gets my hackles up against those two governments.

But definitely, war is not the answer.

To deflate and defuse Hezbolla, we have to address the very human concerns in the whole region, peacefully and thoughtfully.

10. Hiding behind Hezbollah? They're hiding behind the people of Lebanon
who are Hezbollah's human shields. Of course, the people of Lebanon aren't actually functioning as protective shields. Instead, they die. Their deaths help the anti-Israel side in the war of words.

Hmmm. Maybe the President of Iran should spend his time in a vulnerable part of Lebanon, with no physical shielding. Then he will know that his death will help the anti-Israel side in the war of words.

13. What part of 'we want to destroy Israel' you don't understand?
Throwing the jews to the sea has been a declared goal of many Arab leaders since the state of Israel was established in 1948. Check for example the speeches of Gamal Abdel Nasser.

At that time the West Bank and Golan heights were in full control of the Arabs.

9. That is right
Syria and Iran want the destruction of Israel but don't want to fight that war on their own soil. So they infiltrate a fledgling democratic state (Lebanon) that cannot defend itself to do the fighting. It is very sad. This is smart on their part because if Israel made a strike on the nations that are truly behind this, they would face international condemnation. if they attack their proxy they are also condemned. Israel is stuck in a no win situation..

But it takes only one to commit genocide.

In the dance of the Hutus and Tutsis, one party decided *not* to tango.

20. Next Time
can you note the 'snip' part.

These are the first 2 paragraphs:

Iran's president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, declared Sunday that Israel had "pushed the button of its own destruction" by launching its military campaign against the Iranian-backed Hizbullah in Lebanon.

Ahmadinejad didn't elaborate, but suggested Islamic nations and others could somehow isolate Israel and its main backers led by the United States. On Saturday, the chairman of Iran's armed forced joint chiefs, Maj.-Gen. Sayyed Hassan Firuzabadi, said Iran would never join the current Middle East fighting.
_______________

Why choose paragraphs 1, 5,8 and the first line from the last paragraph without noting your editing...did you think that the article wasn't slanted enough?
