"Ten soldiers were injured in heavy exchanges of fire that took place Monday morning between IDF ground forces and Hizbullah operatives in the area between the village of Maroun al-Ras and the town of Bint Jbeil in southern Lebanon. During the clashes an antitank missile was fired at the troops and injured several of them.

In the course of the fighting, a number of injured troops were evacuated by helicopter to Ziv hospital in Safed and Rambam hospital in Haifa. Airborne medical teams landed adjacent to the northern border and met the injured soldiers with a military ambulance.

Two of the soldiers injured transferred to Rambam hospital in Haifa sustained light to moderate injuries. Head of the hospital's trauma unit, Dr. Eran Talor, reported that the two were injured as a result of gunfire.

Five of the soldiers injured were transferred to Ziv hospital in Safed. They sustained light injuries.

IDF sources reported of ongoing exchanges of fire in the region, but said that "this is still a low intensity conflict, as the forces have yet to enter the town of Bint Jbeil."
