Rice Angry at Israel in Kana Incident
(IsraelNN.com) American Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is to make her way back to Washington Tuesday after her efforts to broker negotiations and the beginning of a cease fire were thwarted. A combination of the American support for Israeli retaliation and the death of 50 civilians after the IDF bombing of the village of Kana Sunday morning left Secretary Rice angry at Israel and unwanted in Beirut.

She was forced to cancel her plans to visit the Lebanese capital after the country's officials made it clear that she was considered one-sided in favor of Israel. The bombing in Kana exploded her plans to push for a "durable cease fire" in the face of intensified demands for an unconditional end to the war.

3. The only real question I have is how deliberate her embarassment was.
Although I don't like her at all, I can see why she is pissed.

Condi found a loose brain cell and put it to work. Don't worry, they'll put her back on her meds when she gets home.

5. She should be embarrassed considering
she brokered a deal that was nothing but spin. She is nothing but talk with no action.

"If you look carefully at the wording of the Condoleezza Rice announcement, it emerges that the supposed cessation contains two very large loopholes. It states that Israel can continue to use its warplanes in support of its ground forces, and it can also use them to attack Hezbollah rocket launchers.

"This effectively allows Israeli air strikes to continue unchecked in the border areas where its troops are active. Here, the Israeli army has its full arsenal is still available. The only parts of Lebanon which would notice a halt in air strikes would be Beirut and areas further back from the Israeli border."

7. Seems many that were interested in a cease-fire...
have less interest in it today. A hurried truce would have made the bringer of any blow-back look like the bad guys. As it is, the blow-back will be seen as part of the back and forth now, unless it occurs outside of the theater of operations(which I think it will).
