Redress Blog Has Now Corrected.. - Emailed Explanation...
Dear Alastair,
Thanks for your email.
Our editorial "Mobilize to avenge the blood of Qana" -
http://www.redress.btinternet.co.uk/qana.htm is correctly attributed to Redress Information & Analysis.
It was first posted late on Sunday night 30 July (UK time). A random check on the following morning revealed that there was a problem, in that the piece carried Uri Avnery's name. We checked the copy on our hard drive and found that it was, in fact, correctly attributed to us, i.e. we had not made an error with the templates. We re-uploaded the version on our hard drive and it correctly displayed on the site. As the problem was not due to an error on our part, we did not issue a correction.
We have checked with our ISP and can confirm that there was nothing sinister in this. We are told that the most likely explanation for the wrong attribution is that there was a problem with the server which somehow retained some of the features of the previous upload, which was in fact an article by Uri Avnery. That said, it is not something that has happened to us before (as far as we are aware).
Regarding your last two questions,
(1) On the evening of 31 July we revised the last paragraph and one or two other passages, emaphasizing some aspects of the article and clarifying others.
(2) We submitted it to Information Clearing House as we do with all our articles.
Once again, thanks for your email and we are keeping an eye open.
Regards,
Editor
