questions about the Israel media |
|
watching and listening to Israeli residents talking to reporters I've noticed an interesting thing.
the people seem shocked and aggrieved that they are receiving missiles and that Iran is supplying Hisbollah.
don't they know that they, themselves are bombing, missiling, tanking and shooting Lebanon, supplied by the U.S.?
that the destruction done by themselves to Lebanon has killed that country; whereas the missiles they have been receiving is a fingernail's worth of damage in comparison.
and the Israeli's complain of having to stay in bomb shelters because of missiles; while there is no shelters safe from the Israeli/american bombs in Lebanon.
is the Israeli media the cause of this disconnect?

1. Fingernail? Excuse me? |
|
There are dead Israelis and the rest live in dread. I suggest you would not tolerate a lawless militia hurling rockets into your 'hood.
I wish the UN well in their efforts - life for all of us in the secular world depends on our ability to co-exist with religious extremists everywhere.

18. Israel hasn't allowed ethnic militias to form and act |
|
against her neighbors. Have Americans forgotten why we invaded Afghanistan after 9/11? We went after training bases and weapons conduits.

21. is that a no? it's so hard to get a an answer to a simple question... |
|
when it's not in Israel's favor.
Israel has not suffered near the amount of damage Lebanon has - either in casualties or infrastructure damage. It's a fact.

or rather, your need for it. Israel is not engaged in tit-for-tat and much as I endorse the strategy, I understand their reaction.

8. The U.N might be more succesful if Israel would abide by their resolutions |
|
I wonder how much of this would be happening if Israel hadn't been illegally occupying land for the last FORTY years...

16. You have to be patient w/land for peace |
|
But Egypt agreed to stop fighting and Israel's stayed out of the Sinai. Peace can be reached, but it took someone like Sadat to oppose his own people's animosity. He paid the ultimate price.

22. patience is not the issue. Israel didn't waste the last 40 years |
|
trying to work out a settlement. They've been busy annexing the disputed land, so that they can one day claim that it's too late to go back and give them the land... we have to many Israeli's that have established their lives there now... so we'll just have to keep it.
no amount of patience can overcome that kind of logic.

23. arab leadership is the problem: |
|
a summary: egypt says no more war: they get the sinai back (minus gaza they dont want)
Jordan says no more war: they get peace (they dont want the westbank)
israel leaves lebanon in...and gets attacked off and on for the next 6 years...and watches 14,000 missles get placed and aimed at her population centers.
israel leaves gaza, gaza has a border with egypt...and the palestenains promptly send missles over the border almost nightly.... _______
i think i see a pattern here:....and the problem is not simply 67 borders.....

24. so the people who are being suppressed and oppressed have to |
|
make the first move?
How about is Israel withdrew from the occupied lands, then Palestinians would offer them peace?
It's Israel that doesn't want peace in the region.

Perhaps originally so that the Holocaust survivors wouldn't be continually traumatized. Just my opinion, but now the youth seem to be in a weird militarized cocoon.

and found nothing that backs up the assertion that Israeli TV doesn't allow dead bodies to be shown. However, I didn't find anything that stated the reverse. Do you have a source?

media, as I understand it, is pretty open, and at least in the print media, there is a greater diversity of opinion than in the U.S. print media.

As for Israeli's only talking about themselves, Most of the Lebanese I have seen on TV only talk about themselves or in support of Nasrallah. Perhaps we are seeing cherry picked interviews?

20. such "lack of knowledge".... |
|
israel doesnt show dead bodies because the israeli media and israel respects the dead....funerals are only shown if the family agrees.
does israel know whats happening in lebanon?...its only on the news 24/7...not to mention 2,000+ missles landing in israel..a call up of reserves meaning families now have sons and fathers in the army.....
yes israelis know whats going on,...probably far more than people in the states....
and yes israel has bomb shelters..mainly because its not the first time its population has been attacked..and when the arabs say they'll attack again, the israeli govt takes it seriously....but thats because it has a govt that is responsable to its citizens...
