Should Iran supply Hizbollah with weapons? |
|
Didn't the US supply the Contras with weapons?
The US supplies Israel with all sorts of weapons.
Is it possible to be a player and a referee at the same time and still expect to be taken seriously?

4. Hey, lets supply arms to both Israel and Hezbollah! |
|
A buck's a buck. Hate to think we'd lose a potential customer to the Iranians when we can supply both ends of the war and profit accordingly. It'll be good for bidness and provide jobs for American arms workers. We used to arm the Iranians. Why not arm their proxies?

5. As long as we are arming Israel to the hilt, we are in no moral |

position to complain if Iran arms anyone else. I would like the mid east to be a nuclear free zone too, but as long as Israel has the nukes that it does, her neighbors are going to want to defend themselves. Of course, if we go around disarming the area, a lot of arms merchants' children will go hungry. :sarcasm:

Ahmadinejad and Nasrallah want the same thing: the destruction of Israel.
So, in answer to the OP, it's a "NO." Unless you are into that kind of thing.

8. Israel is a state. Hezbollah are self-proclaimed terrorists. |
|
So, no, Iran should not be arming Hezbollah anymore than America should have armed the Cuban terrorist groups that initially tried to topple the regime there.

After all, isn't that the "free enterprise system"? Doesn't Gee-Dubya say the private sector can do a better job in a free market? So, if the (monopoly) government of Lebanon doesn't satisfy it's clients (citizens), what's wrong with them getting defense services from the competitive market?

11. What if some other country gave them weapons? |
|
Like if it was Japan, or Denmark, or Singapore. Do you think that would be more acceptable to Americans? Do people think it is worse because it is Iran instead of a country America likes better?
And by the way, I asked in another thread, if Iran is giving them weapons why don't they give them better ones than those rockets?

21. How big is the difference between Hezbollah and Lebanon? |
|
Maybe it used to be, I'm not going to pretend to know all the details of the history, etc. Do you think the bombing has made the difference bigger than it used to be?
Do you think that most Lebanese people are against Hezbollah or anybody fighting back against the attacks, but they are afraid to like demonstrate, etc? And there will be some people who would answer you saying that well it is not just Hezbollah that is getting killed. But Israel has said it also wants to get rid of the Hezbollah supporters, so that means that people who are in favor of fighting back are pretty much Hezbollah supporters. But either way, I guess what I am asking about is, I know that they got a pro-American government not too long ago, and do you think that it is more or less popular than Hezbollah?
I guess you could say that all the people killed who were not fighting back either were in favor of it, or they were human shields, but the problem with the human shields part is that you could say that about everybody, even Americans and Israelis, any country that has military stuff around where people are.
And yes this is all getting back to the question I am still trying to figure out, if anybody who fights back against attacks and invasions etc by America or Israel is a terrorist, would it also be terrorist to fight back if you were in like Bulgaria and were attacked by Fiji?

we sold weapons to the Contras? Is it good we give Israel $2 billion a year in military aid? I think we can all say no on the first, and even if you support Israel, I would still say no on the second, because I think the international arms trade leads to the death of too many innocent civilians.
So, should Iran fund Hezbollah? Likwise, No. I don't believe it's good to fund a group that wants to destroy a nation, and kill civilians.
Some people here have some skewed and twisted romanticized view of Hezbollah, as though it's a great liberating force. In reality, it's fanatical, illeberal, and theocratic. I don't think it can be destroyed as some believe, but there is nothing to be admired about the organization or its methods.
