Settlers Suspected in Drive-by Killing of West Bank Palestinian
Jews suspected in drive-by killing of West Bank Palestinian
By Avi Issacharoff and Jonathan Lis, Haaretz Correspondents and agencies

Hussein Mardawi, 48, of Habla village near the West Bank town of Qalqilya, was killed early Monday when gunfire hit the car in which he was travelling, in an apparent shooting by Jewish gunmen.

Mardawi's 17-year-old son was also in the car, and was wounded in the incident.

The son said that settlers had opened fire on the car.

Palestinian witnesses said that the assailants' car bore Israeli license plates.

Judea and Samaria District police said they had no knowledge of the incident.

3. If the district police don't even know that a Palestinian was murdered
Edited on Mon Aug-07-06 09:36 AM by mom cat
in a drive by shooting by settlers, that says a lot about how justice is skewed. Murder of Palestinians is not even a blip on the screen for the police.
This reminds me so much of the skewed justice in the old South of the US.

4. It says something.
But I don't know what.

Maybe the local police just don't care.

Maybe nobody trusted the police enough to report it.

There are other options. I don't need to jump to a conclusion, so won't.

5. That may be correct
I'm not sure. I thought you were attempting to deny it happened.

7. Not at all. I was just upset at the now predictible official responce.
We didn't know. Didn't know about a murder, a drive by shooting? Right!

6. I think this speaks to the Israeli government...
and the way they govern Israel and Palestine.

I don't see how there can be international support for Israel unless they clean up their act and actually govern or administer the areas they are illegally occupying.

What they've done is take control of the borders and let the people fend for themselves, while ignoring all kinds of atrocities.
