what could Israel/U.S. offer Iran to stop them from funding Hezbollah? |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 12:40 PM by hadrons
Syria been giving them help, but I figure returning the Golan Heights to Syria would be enough to get them to blow off Hezbollah, but what about Iran, even looking at it from a "in a perfect world ..." mindset

2. The Golan Heights were used to shell down into Israel. |
|
How nice of you to return them to the people who used them so.
What other helpful suggestions do you have?

3. read the question ..... |

Edited on Fri Aug-11-06 12:49 PM by hadrons
the question was simple and narrow in scope, what could be offered to stop Iran from funding Hezbollah. Returning the Golan Heights would do it for Syria ... is it what I'm suggesting, ummmm, I'm not suggesting anything, I'm looking for the root cause

8. Who cares? It is time for the adults to take charge from the juveniles |

on both sides of this conflict that threaten the peace of the entire world because of their petty grievances against each other.
Forget the Bible and mythical beings, and forget this asinine feud that dates back to a legendary bowl of lentils and two brothers in need of family counseling.
Lenin said that religion was a private matter, and a private matter it must remain. Faith-based policies, as we have seen in the United States, are a recipe for intolerance, bigotry, and religious tyranny.

At least nothing that would be moral. "Moral" according to my decadent Western elistist college--educated standards. What Iran wants they certainly consider moral, and they're no squeamish about having people die for it.
Syria ... depends on Assad. If Golan could be rendered safe for Israel, and they could work out the terms, that might work. Might not. Hard to know. Ultimately what Syria wants is Lebanon. Preferably with a bright yellow bow.

6. How about acknowledging that we started this death match when |
|
we helped create Israel out of Palestinian land in 1948. Then offer a real two state solution with the original boundaries after 1948, with compensation for those who's land was stolen and allow the return of the Palestinian people to their own country. Admit that we installed the shaw and trained his secret police to torture rape and kill the civilian population to instill fear so they could be controlled for the express purpose of getting Iranian oil at cheep prices. In other words admit that we have done terrible things in the past, for which the Iranian people have a just anger, but that from this day forward we will deal with them with respect and honesty. The things that drive Muslims crazy is that we pretend to not know our own history and pontificate on one hand while engaging in the most vile arms dealing and business dealing possible.

7. Put the Baathists back in power in Iraq! |
|
Saddam and his Baathists were the natural enemies of Iran and Al-Qaeda. We could shoot two birds with one shot by reversing the biggest foreign policy mistake in the history of the USA by releasing Saddam and putting the Baathists back in power in Iraq.
If we fail to do this, we will end up with a Shia sphere of influence extending from Iran throug Iraq and Syria, and into Lebanon.
