Israel planes stage mock raids in Beirut
<snip>

"Israeli warplanes staged mock raids Tuesday over Hezbollah strongholds in south Beirut in the heaviest show of aerial power there since an Aug. 14 cease-fire.

The Israeli fighter jets dived down to zoom low over the southern suburbs at least six times before roaring up into the sky.

No bombing was reported. Some concerned residents took to rooftops and balconies to watch."

Israeli warplanes fly low over Beirut

<snip>

"Israeli warplanes flew at a low altitude over Beirut, its suburbs and large areas of south Lebanon on Tuesday, witnesses and Lebanese security sources said.

United Nations peacekeepers and Lebanon say Israeli overflights violate Security Council Resolution 1701 that ended a 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah guerrillas in August.

Israel says its combat planes would continue to fly over Lebanon to ensure that weapons are not smuggled into southern Lebanon from Syria to resupply Hezbollah.

Security sources said eight planes entered Lebanese airspace from the south and flew north to Beirut and its southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold."

1. They're only mock raids -
'cos there's nothing left worth bombing. All those bridges, hospitals, airports, ports, water and
sewage treatment plants, electrical facilities, fuel stations & residential areas haven't been rebuilt
yet.

/satire.

2. Ah, more "reconnaissance".
Or maybe "keeping a strong deterrent capability".

3. Wait. Israel violating a UN Security Resolution? Never imagined
I'd see that day...
OK, just kidding. Never expect it would comply with a resolution in my lifetime, actually.
