Qassam fired despite truce; militant killed in Hebron clash
Palestinians fired a Qassam rocket at the Negev on Friday morning, in violation of the Israeli-Palestinian cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. There were no injuries.

As of Friday morning, Palestinian militants have fired 14 rockets at Israel since the cease-fire began Sunday, according to the Israel Defense Forces. Israel has not responded to the rocket fire.

In the West Bank, a Border Policeman was lightly hurt Friday morning by a firebomb hurled at him near the entrance to the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron. Israeli forces returned fire and killed a Palestinian man who they said was the militant who threw the firebomb. The troops later found a knife on his body.

On Thursday, a 16-year-old Palestinian was killed by IDF troops in the West Bank village of Beita, near Nablus.

The soldiers fired on a group of Palestinians who were throwing firebombs and a pipe bomb at them.

not really, but dissapointed as i was the first time Israel left gaza over a year ago.

what now?.....does israel wait until they hit a school? hospital....or is it "best" that israel do nothing and just let them missles fly over the border as they've been doing since israel left, and let them fall and kill whenever that happens

btw, this kind of destroys the argument that, the first time the missles were flying over was because "there was no negotiation"...this time there was, and still the missles come flying over the 67 border. (as if islamic jihad/hamas really need an "excuse")

tough questions for the "pro palestenain"crowd.....any recommendations for the israelis around gaza and for the IDF?...or is this kind of terrorism acceptable?
(damn force of habit, asking a question that will not only not get answered but will probably "stop the thread")

3. Let's not get ahead of ourselves. Is Israel able to control 100% of its citizens?
They can't even prevent the settlers from attacking school children!@

4. no country can controll all of its citizens..
thats why the police are always busy.....the PA now has over 15,000 officers spread out...some of those kassams have been launched from areas in sight of the IDF.....either they're doing a poor job or they not doing one.

your suggestion?.....i suspect is that the IDF should do nothing? (I"m just guessing)...perhaps you can suggest some sort of red line when it will be clear that the PA has failed (or not)...and israel should then do...?

or is offering some kind of suggestion to israeli citizens something that cant be done?

7. Israeli navy fires on Palestinian fishing vessel in first truce violation: security officials
<snip>

"An Israeli navy boat fired toward a Palestinian fishing vessel off Gaza on Saturday in a first Israeli violation of a week-old truce in Gaza, Palestinian security officials said.

The vessel caught fire, but no one was hurt, the security officials said.

The Israeli military said it was unaware of such an incident."

8. The cease-fire will go up in flames
<snip>

"Here is the forecast: In a few days, there will be a targeted killing operation. The military correspondents will recite: "He was one of the senior operatives of Hamas (or Islamic Jihad), and was responsible for producing and smuggling large amounts of armaments." In response, a barrage of Qassams will fall on Sderot. One of the residents might be injured. In the process of the targeted killing operation, some passersby might also be killed; the correspondents will then recite: "They were armed."

Several days later, there might be a terror attack. The leaders of the right-wing parties and the Labor Party will be interviewed on television and will recite: "Abu Mazen has once again demonstrated that he is incapable and unwilling to fight terror. There is no one to talk to." Public Security Minister Avi Dichter will propose turning Beit Hanun into a ghost town. Eli Yishai will suggest bombing from the air. The next day, Qassams will fall again, and the IDF will enter the northern Gaza Strip. The cease-fire will go up in flames.

This is not a bold wager. This is almost the exact series of events that occurred in previous cease-fires. What was is what will be. There are plenty of examples. In January 2002, after several months of quiet, the Tanzim activist Raed Karmi was assassinated in Tul Karm. Dichter, who was then the head of the Shin Bet, pushed for this action, of course. Immediately afterwards, Fatah began its suicide bombing attacks.

Several months later, the Tanzim announced a unilateral cease-fire. Shortly thereafter, in July 2002, Salah Shehadeh was assassinated in Gaza in a one-ton bombing, which also killed 15 innocent residents. That was the end of the cease-fire."

10. Qassam rocket lands in Negev; no casualties or damage
A Qassam rocket landed in the Western Negev on Sunday morning. No casualties or damage were reported.

Another rocket landed near the building of the Sha'ar Hanegev regional council early Friday. There were no casualties or damage in this incident either.

Nine more Qassam rockets were fired at Israel after a cease-fire between Israel and Palestinian militant groups had been announced on Sunday.

Six projectiles were launched minutes after the truce was announced. The location of three of them has been verified.

its the palestenains that are doing the shooting......trying to kill israelis...perhaps someone might want to explain to me why?.....and if the palestenains are doing the shooting can we say that its the israelis that are being "abused"?

this is so confusing...how can we blame the israelis for the kassams this time?

6. Well...
It sounds like Israel is showing a lot of restraint. Now, what remains to be seen is if the Palestinians will actually negotiate and create a real lasting peace.

"JERUSALEM (CNN) -- Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Sunday ordered 13,000 security forces to deploy near the border to enforce a cease-fire agreement with Israel, sources in Abbas' office told CNN.

The move came hours after Palestinian militants in Gaza apparently launched nearly a dozen rockets toward Israel.

Abbas also called on the Palestinian factions who previously negotiated the cease-fire to meet again to ensure the agreement holds, Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told reporters Sunday."

snip:"Hamas government spokesman Ghazi Hamad insisted that all Palestinian factions are "100 percent" behind the cease-fire.

"All of them now, without exception, including Hamas and Islamic Jihad and Fatah and other factions, they decided to respect the agreement and also to be committed 100 percent to this agreement," Hamad told CNN."
