Israeli bulldozers destroy water well in Bethlehem
Israeli bulldozers destroy water well in Bethlehem
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 12/2/2006

Israeli bulldozers destroyed this morning a water well in the West Bank city of Bethlehem, Palestinian Agricultural Relief Committee said.

It added that an Israel bulldozer destroyed a water well in Wadi Abu al-Hassan area, west al-Khader town of Bethlehem, which irrigates arable trees in the area.

Israeli authorities have recently stepped up provocative acts against citizens and their agricultural lands in Ein al-Qassis, Wadi al-Ghweit and Wadi al-Batma.

Meantime, A child died Saturday morning of wounds he sustained during Israeli artillery shelling to citizens' houses in the Gaza Strip city of Jabalia , medicial sources said.

13. It is incredibly sad
and this is only a small part of it. They have ruined their olive orchards to build their walls, shoot at children...remember Rachel Corrie? They seem to be lacking any shred of compassion in their hearts.

14. What hyperbole.
BTW...Corrie was not a child, nor was she shot.

4. This is interesting. Because there have been many claims here that the reason Palestinians
have no access to water is their choice not to build a well or get some system of delivery going, but that Israel is not preventing them from access to the water (even though the numbers don't support that claim). And here is a well they do have access to, that has been destroyed.

I'll anxiously await the explanation for this.

6. The brief one sentence description in the OP . .
. . and the linked article mentions nothing about it being done on purpose or to "provoke" the Palestinians. Yet we already have several posts complaining about the Israeli "thuggery", "torment", "oppression" and "inhuman treatment".

This may be an example of that but you can't get that from the news article which is about a well in Bethlehem.

It's interesting that the Arabic news source didn't give any details. Is it maybe because the article could be better used as anti-Israel propaganda as long as the details were omitted? This could be just a construction accident for all we know.

8. They also wrote "Nevember" instead of "November"
Who reported this? Does arabicnews.com have their own reporters or do they cut and paste stories from other sources?

11. I'm not sure I understand
Are you suggesting the destruction of this well was accidental? Are you suggesting that this perhaps did not even happen? You do know that the destruction of water wells by bulldozers is not unusual nor accidental of course.

This was no accident this was a furtherance of the attacks Israeli upon the agricultural lands in Ein al-Qassis, Wadi al-Ghweit and Wadi al-Batma.

Part of a larger pattern.

7. water is sacred in the land of god
to destroy the water is a sacrilege and to deny water to the thirsty is an offense against god.
according to the books he has punished those who were wicked
will god punish those who do these things now?

9. Its well known fact the the settlers have access to a larger portion of the WB
aquafers than the palestinians. and they do consume much more water than them.

It remains to be seen if Israel will allow any emerging palestinian state full control of its water resources. They surely didn't offer such a basic right for ANY meaningful state in past negotiations.

15. WHAT NEXT?
Edited on Tue Dec-05-06 03:45 AM by nicoll
IT JUST WANTS ME WANT TO HOLD MY HAND AND SAY WHY. TO DESTROY A WELL THAT CIVILIANS DRINK OUT OF IS WRONG WHETER ACIDENTAL OR DELIBRET. EVEN IF THEY DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO IT AT THE TIME DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY WOULD NOT HAVE ACCESS TO IT IN THE FUTURE. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHY THE WELL WAS DESTROYED BY AN ISRAELI BULLDOZER?

I WANT SOMEONE TO BE ABLE TO JUSTIFY THE DESTRUCTION OF THE WELL BY ISRAEL?

I DON'T CARE IF YOU SAY IT IS ANTI PROPGANDA AGAINST ISRAEL, JUST GIVE ME THE FACTS AND THE REASON WHY?

16. Is there ANY proof it happened?
There is only ONE story about this event. It is repeated all over the web, but all lead back to a site that doesn't cite a source or author. Is it possible? Of course. However, how can your questions be answered when there is no way to find out what happened other than from a "news" site that doesn't have authors or any substantive evidence?
