Israel stands by vague nuclear policy
i dont understand what the big deal is. do you have nukes or not? yes or no. its not a tough fucking question!

--------------------------------------

JERUSALEM -
Israel held firm Thursday to its policy of not admitting it possesses nuclear weapons, in the face of an acknowledgment from the incoming U.S. Defense Secretary that Israel has the bomb.

In his confirmation hearing before the Senate, Robert Gates explained
Iran's motivation to acquire nuclear weapons.

"They are surrounded by powers with nuclear weapons — Pakistan to their east, the Russians to the north, the Israelis to the west and us in the Persian Gulf," he told the Senate committee.

Although Israel is widely assumed to have a nuclear weapons arsenal, it has stuck to its policy of ambiguity on the subject, insisting against all the evidence that it will not be the first to introduce nuclear weapons into the Middle East.

2. Think about it:
Israel, a nation with 200 nuclear weapons, wants the world to take out Iran, a nation which might get one nuclear weapon in a couple of years.

If Iran attacked Israel, Israel could annihilate Iran.

4. The U.S. and Israel have such poor reputations as "honest brokers"...
...for so many things, most notably peace negotiations, not because they are deceptive, but because they put so little energy into their deceptions that it becomes a caricature of deception, a poorly-articulated condescending charade that an intelligent global community is supposed to ignore the transparency of.

Hubris? Foolishness? Deep-rooted Anglo-European colonial entitlement issues? Whatever it is, it is an embarrassing display.
