Israel's Olmert calls for dramatic measures against Iran

BERLIN, Dec 9 (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called for more
dramatic measures to be taken against Iran and declined to rule out a military
attack against Tehran in an interview with Germany's Spiegel magazine.

Olmert criticised the international community's hesitation in dealing with
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. The West fears Iran's nuclear programme is
aimed at developing nuclear weapons but Tehran denies this.

"I am anything but happy," Olmert was quoted as saying in an interview released
ahead of publication on Sunday.

"I expect significantly more dramatic steps to be taken. Here is a leader who says
openly that it is his aim to wipe Israel off the map. Israel is a member of the
United Nations."

1. You and what army, Mr. Olmert?
With what army are you and your extremist colleague, Avigdor Lieberman, planning to take "dramatic measures" against Iran?

Because if you mean, with OUR military, forget it!

NO U.S. WAR ON IRAN!!!

No, I don't particularly like Iran. But I'm damned if I want to see yet MORE of OUR American soldiers killed--this time, in Iran--for NOTHING.

2. I wouldn't be surprized if Lieberman and others advocated this
After all, just how many warships have they deployed to the Persian Gulf with virtually NO media coverage?

This is how they get to continue the war games. Have Israel start screaming for it, ignore the election -- and start firing on Iran.

4. If our voices are heard, which I'm afraid they won't be ...

... but if they are, the US will not back Israel in this silly mission that could jeapardize not only her status among nations but could throw the whole Middle East and quite possibly the world into an unimaginable situation.

It is my hope that cooler heads prevail on all sides.
