Netanyahu: Shut off Gaza's water
<snip>

"Likud chairman Binyamin Netanyahu Thursday called upon Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to take serious steps to end rocket attacks on Sderot from the Gaza Strip.

Speaking at a Likud faction meeting at the Menachem Begin Heritage Center marking the 30th anniversary of the party's 1977 rise to power, Netanyahu said that Olmert should learn from Begin's 1981 attack on the Iraqi nuclear reactor that a government's primary responsibility is to protect its people.

"The government can do a lot to protect its people," Netanyahu said. "It could evacuate whomever necessary, enact a closure on the Gaza Strip, stop providing services like electricity and water, or decide on a limited invasion of four or five kilometers to distance the range of the Kassams. But the government isn't doing anything to protect the people of Sderot, because it is paralyzed," he said.

In an interview with Army Radio, Netanyahu compared the current situation to that prior to the 1977 race. He said that in both instances, Israel was governed by leaders who had failed in war and were out of touch with the sentiment of the people."

2. what a sick bastard.
shame on him. So much for taking the high road, something that many Israelis have every right to claim. But there are exceptions to everything, and nuttenyahoo is the exception that proves the point.

Or rather, while Nutty talks the talk, Ollie walks the walk, so to speak.

9. I remember some people trying to claim that wasn't a war crime...
And I suspect there'd be some who'd insist that what Nutty is wanting to do wouldn't be a war crime either. Nutty's problem is that he's got a big mouth. If he put on a public face of not gleefully suggesting such things and just doing them when he gets a chance, he really wouldn't be a whole lot different than the likes of Olmert...

6. B'Tselem: Don't attack Gaza civilians
<snip>

"The left-wing human rights organization B'Tselem wrote a letter to Defense Minister Amir Peretz on Friday, urging him to ensure that the IDF did not attack civilian targets in the Gaza Strip.

The letter came in response to calls by several MKs to cut off Gaza's water and electricity. According to B'Tselem, intentionally harming civilian infrastructure constitutes prohibited collective punishment and could also constitute a war crime.

In its letter, B'Tselem reminded the defense minister that Israel had bombed Gaza's only power plant about a year ago, leaving residents with a severely diminished electricity supply for months.

"This act of vengeance did not stop the Kassam rocket fire," the organization noted.

The group acknowledged that Kassam fire into Israel "is itself patently illegal and constitutes a war crime," and that "the Israeli government must act to defend its civilians from such attacks."

However, the organization said, "the government cannot compensate for its failure to protect residents of Sderot by intentionally causing suffering in Gaza."

8. Rafi Eitan, another fine one...
For some reason, this puts me in mind of another one of those Likud darlings, Rafi Eitan who, when he was chief of staff made this infamous statement:
"The Arabs will never defeat us by throwing stones. Our answer will be a nationalist Zionist solution. For every stone throwing - we'll establish ten settlements. If there will be - and there will be - a hundred settlements between Nablus and Jerusalem, no stones will be thrown. If that shall be the case, the Arabs could only run around like cockroaches in a bottle, like drugged cockroaches inside a bottle"

Likud represents the finest standards of Israeli barbarity & inhumanity toward their Palestinian neighbors.

10. Maybe Nutty should use a cartoon mouse to get his message across?
That way everyone would sit up and take notice and there'd be thread after thread about cartoon rodents :)
