Two children, one two-years-old and the other four, were lightly injured from shrapnel Wednesday afternoon when a Qassam rocket fired from northern Gaza hit a Kindergarten in a kibbutz within the Eshkol Regional Council in the western Negev.
Magen David Adom medics reported that a woman suffered from shock. The children were all taken to the Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon for treatment.
The regional council's head Haim Yalin told Ynet, "We are eagerly awaiting the start of fortification works, as promised us by the prime minister. At present not all houses in the regional council have security rooms.
"We will not be able to enjoy complete security until all those houses are fortified. I call on the defense establishment to act for ensuring the safety of the residents and for securing the Gaza border."
Three Qassam rockets landed Tuesday night in southern Ashkelon. There were no reports of injuries or damage. Hamas claimed responsibility for firing the rockets.
