Israel plans new settlement homes
BBC News (posted Feb 12, 2008)

Israeli housing minister Zeev Boim says tenders will soon be issued for construction of more than 1,000 new homes for Jews in East Jerusalem.

Israel annexed the area in 1967 and has continued settlement activity despite a recent freeze on settlements on other occupied territory in the West Bank.

The international community regards such building as illegal. Palestinians want East Jerusalem as their capital.

1. This is wrong.
If Israeli leadership is really interested in peace, they would end this kind of settlement activity immediately.

How long as it gone on? It just never ends.

3. US Seeking Clarification of Israeli Housing Plans
VOA News

The United States is seeking clarification of Israeli plans, announced Tuesday, to build some 1,100 new homes for Israelis in and around east Jerusalem. The State Department called the move a potential irritant to Middle East peace efforts. VOA's David Gollust reports from the State Department.

Officials here stop short of outright criticism of the Israel announcement. But they nonetheless say it has the potential to upset peace efforts being shepherded by the United States, and say U.S. concerns will be raised at senior levels of the Israeli government.

At a news briefing, State Department Sean McCormack said U.S. diplomats would seek clarification of the housing plans from both the Israeli Foreign Ministry and the office of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

He said actions like Tuesday's announcement are potential irritants and distractions from the drive to get a final status Israeli-Palestinian peace agreement but said the United States does not doubt the commitment of Mr. Olmert or Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to that process.

5. Genetic studies would seem to contradict your contention
that the Palestinians are not indiginous to the area. The ethnic cleansing that you advocate would be a crime against humanity, and I hope it will not be tolerated on this board.

6. Wow
You defend it all in one neat post: The ethnic cleansing of the native Palestinians, the continued theft of their land, and you frankly state the most effective means towards those goals (settlement building). What's more, you justify it all by saying it's just the history of the region.

Wow. Most defenders of these crimes try to cover it up with various excuses, but you, it's as if there is no shame. There isn't, is there?
