Cash-strapped Palestinian government seeks World Bank's help
Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad short on funds, unable to pay public workers; appeals to World Bank for emergency funds

Reuters Published: 07.29.08, 11:57 / Israel News

Palestinian Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has appealed to the World Bank to help him secure emergency financing to bridge a shortfall in donor funds and pay public workers, Palestinian and European sources said Tuesday.

Fayyad is seeking a so-called comfort letter from the international lending agency to obtain short-term private bank funding, the sources said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

His unusual appeal underscores the extent of the Palestinian Authority's budget crisis despite billions of dollars in aid pledged last year as part of a US-backed peace drive.

The Palestinian Authority's workers are supposed to get paid later this week and any delay would be embarrassing for Fayyad's Western-backed government, formed a year ago in the occupied West Bank after Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip.

3. What claims?
There are facts that billions of dollars in aid has gone to the Palestinians.

Where did the money go?

We don't see it in infrastructure, schools, feeding the children (since we always hear that they are starving).

I am asking a legitimate question.

Where have those billions in aid gone, since the Palestinians always seem to be starving or in poverty (except for the big screen TVs, motorcycles, and other things they were miraculously able to purchase when the Egyptian border was breached).

4. Do we really have to go back through threads?
you have claimed that the Palestinians have more money than any other group in history on more than one occasion.

the only question you ask and that is in this post is "Where did the money go?"

Then you imply an answer with this "Where have those billions in aid gone, since the Palestinians always seem to be starving or in poverty (except for the big screen TVs, motorcycles, and other things they were miraculously able to purchase when the Egyptian border was breached)."

Your statements on the subject remind me of a Reagan era "commentator" speaking about a certain group in America
