Separation fence fueling attacks by East Jerusalem Arabs
Makes sense, really...

http://www.haaretz.com/hasen/spages/1024174.html

"The West Bank separation barrier is fueling attacks by East Jerusalem Arabs who feel isolated from fellow Palestinians and are increasingly likely to lash out independently, the Shin Bet security service said on Wednesday, two days after an East Jerusalem resident plowed his car into a crowd in Jerusalem, wounding 17.

The findings by the Shin Bet, which has usually championed tough tactics against a Palestinian uprising that erupted in 2000, appeared to dovetail with Palestinian arguments that a peaceful resolution of Jerusalem's status is key to addressing the causes of political violence in the city."

1. Who could have imagined that apartheid would engender bad feelings.

2. wow
surprised the Shin Bet would say something as straightforward as that regarding the isolation of East Jerusalem Arabs/Palestinians. and yes, it does make a lot of sense, at least more so than the 'they're just terrorists' meme some people incessantly bang on about.

3. Shin Bet's findings are one thing
what the Israeli government actually does about them are another, after the firmer 2 attacks there were calls to "relocate" Arabs living in EJ, Shin Bets findings could conceivably be used to bolster that idea also. With the Israeli government in a state of "flux" at the moment all possibilities are open

4. I don't think they're that game...
Think about how many cattle cars they'd need to ship out that many Arabs, and think how easy it is for the world's broadcast media to access east Jerusalem. Get just the right angle and its Pulitzer Prize ahoy.
