"Some supplies will be allowed into Gaza on Monday, Israel said amid mounting international concern over a worsening of the humanitarian situation in the besieged, aid-dependent Palestinian territory.
"A certain number of trucks carrying food supplies should enter Gaza around noon," a military official said.
The Israeli authorities have opened the Gaza Strip just once since a November 4 surge in violence to allow in 33 truckloads of humanitarian aid and other basic supplies.
This has led to mounting international concern over the situation in the overcrowded sliver of land whose economy has been crippled by an Israeli blockade imposed after the Islamist Hamas movement seized power in June 2007.
The UN Works and Relief Agency, which delivers food aid to half of Gaza's 1.5 million population, has been notified it will be allowed to deliver 10 truckloads of supplies to Gaza on Monday, spokesman Chris Gunness said."
