Rabin's assassin Yigal Amir forced to look at picture of his victim
A portrait of the late prime minister Yitzhak Rabin was hung outside the cell of his assassin, Yigal Amir, in the maximum security Ramon Prison.

A Prisons Service source said the portrait was hung as a prank to annoy the prisoner, who is serving a life sentence.

Amir was transferred to the maximum security prison some three months ago, after giving a series of interviews to Channels 2 and 10 in October last year. Excerpts of the controversial interviews were aired ahead of time, evoking heavy criticism that led both channels to cancel the broadcasts, scheduled for the end of October 2008.

The IPS punished Amir for the unauthorized interviews by transferring him to the heavily guarded penitentiary near Mitzpe Ramon in the south, where some 700 Palestinian terrorists and other security prisoners are being held.

1. A "prank" by the prison administrators???
You may punish or rehabilitate. Your ass is never supposed to "prank". Total bullshit.

2. If he was capable of remorse for his action, this might be appropriate
I sometimes do imagine murderers being forced to look at pictures of their victims as a means of inducing remorse. Unfortunately, if looking at the real people didn't prevent their actions, looking at a picture is unlikely to have this effect.

3. Yeah, it's more than likely to have the opposite effect...
If they're proud of what they did and don't have any remorse, it's more than likely sticking a picture of the victim up will give the murderer a chubby than annoy him...

4. I think he just annoyed his guards, so they are annoying him back.
Or trying to anyway. He does seem unrepentant.
