IDF worried of attempts to 'heat up' Jordanian border
Defense officials have recently become concerned about the attempts of terror organizations, apparently with Syrian encouragement, to "heat up" the border between Israel and Jordan. In recent weeks, the Israel Defense Forces has deployed some additional troops along the northern section of the Jordanian border, especially near the "border triangle" with Syria.

<snip>

There are tens of thousands of Palestinians with Jordanian citizenship living in the territories. Many of the illegal residents in Israel also carry Jordanian passports. According to military sources, IDF soldiers at checkpoints treat holders of Jordanian passports as foreign citizens and refrain from subjecting them to thorough searches. The IDF is considering a new policy of distinguishing between Jordanians with diplomatic passports and those with regular passports, who would be treated in the same way as Palestinian residents of the territories. The Foreign Ministry opposes this proposal, fearing the negative impact on relations with Jordan.

1. Interesting, thanks for posting.
I wonder what Jordan thinks about this.
I have heard the King is annoyed with Shrub's mess in Iraq.

2. Of course bombing a neighboring soveriegn country
tends to "heat up" those nearby as well.

3. Maybe Israel can just extend the Gaza prison to incorporate Jordan

Just give Abdullah some more money and he'll go fire the tanks into the camps himself.

4. That makes no sense.
Since Jordan is the 'Palestinian' homeland, there is no need to incorporate it into Occupied Israel

9. Mr. Resistance Seems To Be Still A Member In Good Standing, Sir
Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 02:09 PM by The Magistrate
He may have lost a comment or two, but that has happened to us all. He is certainly a zealous advocate, but is a reasonable fellow at bottom, in my view.

Mr. Bushes really ought to cease this nonesense about Jordanian being "really" the homeland of Arab Palestinians. That is a great distortion, and adds nothing useful to our discussion here.

I did not say he was not a member anymore. But is temporarily banned for that matter...

There are some equally zealous advocates on the other side that just somehow get away with the same shtick...

When you say that Jordan is the Palestinian homeland that is a joke considering the facts. Even Magistrate told you something regarding your claims. But then if you're so sure that you're right about everything...

Edited on Mon Nov-03-03 02:57 PM by bluesoul
I wouldn't say that if he was at least reasonable in other cases. But this revisionistic BS is constant in many of his posts, therefor I felt my response to such ridiculous claims as proper. If somebody made similar remarks regarding Israel and its people that post would be history in a minute.

30. Please review the ending of
the British mandate. Yes, Jordon was created as an Arab homeland (at that time Palestinian was a term reserved for Jews). However, since Black September, Jordon has made it abundantly clear they (Palestinian Arabs)are not welcome. I hope the king prefers peace to war. His choice, once again.

Therefore, I quite sincerely ask you not to call me a joke again, as you did before.

Thanks.

You will appreciate that the thought he had been liquidated concerned me somewhat, for though we argue fiercely at times, he has my respect as an honorable opponent.

Sometimes I think we could all use a bit of a rest from this place....

I do admit I sometimes get overwhelmed by such anti-Israeli sentiment as I have found on this forum.

8. A few misconceptions contained in a single sentence
A brief geograpphy lesson for you, sir:
  1. Jordan is a Hasemite Kingdom, not a Palestinian homeland.
  2. Israel borders were defined by the 1949 armistice. No part of Israel is under occupation, therefore there is no "Occupied Israel".
  3. The West Bank and Gaza are Palestinian Territories and not part of Israel, but are occupied by Israel.

The late Mier Kahane used to talk a lot about "Occupied Israel" and Jordon = Palestine.

14. Kahane
He was another fellow in need of a geography lesson.

In addition to being deficient in his knowledge of geogrpahy, the late, unlamented Rabbi Kahane displayed some ignorance in biology. He thought Palestinians were a canine species. He often referred to them as "dogs."

insinuating a McCarthy-like 'guilt by association'.

My use of those terms is a cry to those here who have no empathy for the plight of the Israelis.

32. Dictionary definition of "hypocrisy":
hypocrisy

noun
(plural: -sies)

1 the practice of professing standards, beliefs, etc., contrary to one's real character or actual behaviour, esp. the pretence of virtue and piety

2 an act or instance of this

http://www.wordreference.com/english/definition.asp?en=hypocrisy

It would seem to me definition #2 is more appropriate in this case.
