http://www.presstv.com/detail.aspx?id=100753§ionid=351020202The Viva Palestina humanitarian convoy has finally received permission to cross the Rafah border and enter the impoverished Gaza Strip after a 10-day delay caused by Cairo.
The American aid convoy carrying hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of supplies for the people of Gaza is expected to break the deadly Israeli blockade imposed on the costal territory on Wednesday.
The convoy -- planned to be in Gaza by July 13 -- was stopped by Egyptian border officials, who claimed they had not received a list of the names of the members of the convoy.
Viva Palestina activists, all Americans, including Charles Barron, a New York City Councilman, say they have been stranded on the Egyptian side of the Rafah crossing for about 10 days despite earlier arrangements.
The humanitarian aid convoy consisted of 50 vehicles is the second organized by British Parliament Member George Galloway.
The Rafah crossing is Gaza's only border that bypasses Israel.
Egypt and Israel have sealed their borders with the seaside territory since 2007 when Hamas took control of the coastal territory, leaving thousands of Gazans in desperate need of life's essentials.
