France summons Israeli ambassador over settlements
<snip>

"France's Foreign Ministry has questioned Israel's ambassador and demanded an immediate end to Jewish settlement building.

French Foreign Ministry spokesman Eric Chevallier says Israeli Ambassador Daniel Shek met with the ministry's political director on Thursday.

Chevallier says "an immediate freeze in settlements, including in east Jerusalem, is indispensable for preserving the two-state solution and allowing the resumption of negotiations."

Chevallier says Shek also was told that "Israel should open checkpoints regularly to allow the reconstruction of Gaza."

The French ministry expressed concern about difficulties French diplomats have experienced in getting around the Palestinian territories because of Israeli security measures."

4. The pressure's really ramping up now...
Being a cynic at heart, my guess is Israel will ignore the pressure and just keep on going, assuming that when it comes to them, there is no next step after being asked politely to stop...
