Report: Woman killed in Jabalya to "maintain family honor"
Bethlehem - Ma’an - Fadia Jawdat An-Najjar, 27, was killed by her father inside the family home on Thursday 13 July in the Jabalya Refugee Camp, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights reported Monday.

Her father, Jawdat An-Najar, gave himself up to police and confessed that he killed the young woman, after finding her on the phone with what he suspected was a man and evidence of an “illegitimate relationship.”

According to PCHR investigations, de facto government police found signs of torture on Fadia’s body, which was transferred to the Kamal Adwan Hospital in Beit Lahia. Forensic scientists found the woman had been tortured, and died after being hit in the skull with an iron chain.

5. We all agree that this is horrible
Other than that the pre-Islamic custom of honor killings needs to be banned, there's no larger significance to this. And it can't be used to justify any other political cases.

6. Exactly - its as if I posted the story about the baby catching herpes from the Rabbi
sucking the blood from his newly circumcised peepee.

There really isn't any larger political significance. The only possible relevance of a story like this is that it appeals to racists.

According to the PCHR, about nine people, including two men, have died in honour killings, mainly in Gaza but in one instance in the West Bank (which might indicate that severe poverty and social disorder plays a part). By comparison, there are about 10,000 cases of fratricide in the US each year, many involving couples. Infidelity (real or supposed) tends to factor quite frequently as a motive.
