'Two teenagers wounded' in Gaza
Two Palestinian teenagers have been wounded by Israeli tank fire, reports from Gaza said.

The boy and girl were hit east of the Maghazi refugee camp. A Palestinian official told the AFP news agency that the incident happened early on Monday.

The Israeli military said it would not comment until after the Jewish holiday of Yom Kippur because the country is on virtual shutdown.

On Friday, an Israeli air strike killed three Palestinian militants in Gaza.

1. It seems unwise for the military of a country to go on virtual shutdown...
It's just that something is dimly tugging at my memory about a country that did go on virtual shutdown for a holiday and copped a surprise attack...

2. Yeah, they might be forced to kick the shit out of three other countries again.
I'd imagine they've been ready for another such attack since '73.

5. Yeah, we'll support the Israelis in the event they are attacked
Despite the hope of you and others like you. The US will never abandon Israel.

4. Don't know what the hell that had to do with what I posted...
...but you sound sickeningly keen on the use of military force...

6. It's about them being ready for such an attack.
Which I'm sure they are. Despite it being Yom Kippur.

And I'm not keen on military force, I would be beyond happy if all violence in the Middle East/world ended tomorrow. Don't misinterpret, I'm just stating a fact. Israel would ready to defend itself.

8. Then they should be able to address what happened to those teenagers...
...and not put it off till after the holiday's over.

I doubt there's any country that's not prepared to defend itself if it comes to the crunch. Israel's not special in that regard at all...

10. They will.
But I don't see any country dealing with issues like this on their most important day.

Israel is different in some ways, unlike the countries we live where potential troubles are oceans away, their most likely enemies are mere kilometers/minutes away. They have to be ready.

11. But the article said they were putting it off till after the holiday...
'Issues like this?' The issue is that the IDF injured two Palestinian teenagers. I'm not sure how many other countries have issues like that one to deal with, and don't really care how important the holiday is - something that serious needs to be looked at immediately....

No, Israel's not different. I can think straight up of several countries who have some real worries just over their border. South Korea, East Timor, you get the idea. There's nothing special about Israel in that regard at all...
