‘Hamas used kids as human shields, hospital as launch pads'
Exclusive: New research report finds medical facilities served as command centers during Gaza op; 100 mosques used for military purposes; police incorporated into group’s military wing.

Hamas gunmen used Palestinian children as human shields, and established command centers and Kassam launch pads in and near more than 100 mosques and hospitals during Operation Cast Lead in the Gaza Strip last year, according to a new Israeli report being released on Monday that aims to counter criticism of the IDF.

The detailed 500-page report, obtained exclusively by The Jerusalem Post, was written by the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center (Malam), a small research group led by Col. (res.) Reuven Erlich, a former Military Intelligence officer who works closely with the army.

The IDF and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) cooperated with the report’s authors and declassified hundreds of photographs, videos, prisoner interrogations and Hamas-drawn sketches as part of an effort to counter the criticism leveled at Israel in the UN-sponsored Goldstone Report.

4. So none of the above ever happened?
Because only the Israelis behave badly ever?

BIASED MUCH?

The only way it works to use a child as a shield is if you have absolute faith in the humanity of your adversary. Maybe that's what you find unbelievable.

3. Goldstone went ahead with less that half the facts and is being discredited in a deliberate manner
over time. It did not take a crystal ball to see this coming. Its not like his report was being all that seriously anyway.

7. Yet again what yr saying there is totally incorrect ....
Israel refused to cooperate with the investigation, which is nothing to be proud of. The report has not been discredited at all, not unless we're living in a bizarre alternate universe where bunches of wailing Israel Is Always Right zealots at highly partisan sites like CAMERA are taken seriously by anyone other than other wailing Israel Is Always Right zealots.

Clearly the extreme RW Israeli govt and its supporters do take the Goldstone Report seriously as there's been an awful lot of time and energy spent in trying to demonise Mr Goldstone, and a bit less time spent on complaining about the report itself...

5. And Israel murders non-violent Palestinaian protestors
because Israel sees all, including those who make truthful accusations and critiques, who criticize it as terrorists.

6. Unsurprising responses.
People around here don't like admitting that Palestinians commit their own share of the violence and conflict.

8. What a ridiculous thing to say...
There's not that many people around here who do that. When it comes to Israeli violence, then there's more people who don't like admitting that, but fortunately those who can and do admit that there's violence on both sides outnumber those one-eyed folk...

9. Israeli report contradicting Goldstone ignored
Excerpt...

Despite the fact that these findings cast doubt on the veracity of the Goldstone report’s claim not to have found evidence of Hamas using human shields during the 2008/9 Gaza conflict, they have not been reported by any of the UK broadsheets or on the BBC News website since it was published. This is even more notable since all three mainstream English-language Israeli news websites (Haaretz, Jerusalem Post and YNet) featured articles on the Malam report, and its implications for the Goldstone report. YNet, for example, noted that it ‘largely conflicts with the findings of the Goldstone report on Operation Cast Lead’, while the Jerusalem Post described it as documenting ‘how the Goldstone Commission whitewashed the way Hamas waged its battle against Israel’. The video footage was posted at the top of the Jpost article.

The lack of coverage of the Malam report in the British media stands in stark contrast to journalists’ continued, regular and deferential citation of the Goldstone report whenever the issue of alleged Gaza war crimes arises. It also implies that evidence which appears to directly contradict the UN-endorsed report, which essentially accused Israel of being guilty of committing war crimes, is not considered by the same journalists as relevant to news audiences.
