Israeli Apology Gets Cool Reception In Washington
JERUSALEM — Israel's prime minister expressed regret Sunday for a crisis with the United States over plans to expand a Jewish neighborhood in east Jerusalem, even as American officials played down the apology and called for bold Israeli action to get peace efforts back on track.

With tensions rising, Israel deployed hundreds of police around east Jerusalem's Old City and heavily restricted Palestinian access to the area – the scene of several recent clashes.

Israel's already strained relationship with the U.S. hit a new low last week when the Jewish state announced plans during a visit by Vice President Joe Biden to build 1,600 homes for Israelis in east Jerusalem, which Palestinians claim as their capital.

The announcement embarrassed Biden, who quickly condemned the plan, and cast a shadow over upcoming U.S.-mediated peace talks. In his first public comments on the matter, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his Cabinet Sunday that he was sorry about the diplomatic fiasco and had ordered an investigation into the incident. Netanyahu has claimed he had no prior knowledge.

1. The Isreali Government Looks Upon Palestinians like they do animals
they have so dehumanized those they fear... Now they do exactly what others have done to them, try to wipe them off the face of the earth. If that isn't what the Israeli government intended, please look at a geographical map from the past, and compare it to today's map. Palestinians have lost land consistently over the years. SO who is the aggressor here?

2. And the U.S. doesn't have their hands tied either, so aggressor by proxy
you could say, at least that is how I see it.

161 countries on one side, the U.S. the UK, and Israel on the other side...but to be fair to Israel, let me list, Nauru, Palau, Tuvalu, Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands in agreement with Israel too.

The United States has no credibility on this issue, and until we believe it is valuable for us to do anything of substance, the Palestinians
will remain fucked.

3. I Agree with everything you stated
this government of ours is doing nothing, yet they support Israel with our tax dollars, so by proxy, we the citizens of this country have a responsibility.

5. you are welcome
I just want to see people live in peace... and I'm positive many Israelis want the same, as do Palestinians. Why a minority is allowed to run everything is maddening.

7. It will be interesting to see what Secretary Clinton has to say to AIPAC.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to Speak at Policy Conference 2010

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has confirmed that she will address a plenary session at AIPAC Policy Conference 2010, which will be held March 21-23 in Washington, D.C. This will be her first policy address on the U.S.-Israel relationship since joining the Obama administration. Secretary Clinton joins a list of other dignitaries who have confirmed their attendance, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Quartet Representative Tony Blair.
