Chief Rabbi: Talk about new temple a lie

Rabbi Yona Metzger inaugurates controversial Hurva Synagogue in Jerusalem, urges Muslims to disregard rumors that Israel is eying Temple Mount takeover

Kobi Nahshoni Published: 03.15.10, 19:41 / Israel News

Chief Rabbi of Israel Yona Metzger sent a calming message to the Muslim world Monday, amid tensions over the inauguration of the Hurva Synagogue in Jerusalem.

Metzger and Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz both set the mezuzah at the synagogue jambs earlier in the afternoon.

"Pay no attention to malicious slander. All we are doing is resurrecting the 'Hurva,' which was destroyed 60 years ago. We have no intention of rebuilding the temple, not this week – unless the Almighty God descends it from the heavens," said the chief rabbi during the inauguration ceremony.

"All the rumors that suggest we will later march on Temple Mount are just that – rumors. A media spin by anti-Semites that wish us harm."

Knesset Member Danny Danon (Likud) also attended the ceremony and protested the controversy sparked by the decision to reopen the synagogue.

There are some really crazy people among Christians and Jews that want to rebuild the temple and restore the animal slaughter, for different and conflicting reasons. The animal slaughter alone will raise hell from among animal rights people.

that don't really give much credence to icons...

It's all about swinging dick bullshit...

2. Well, that oughta knock the "Rapture Index" down a couple points.
Gotta have the Temple so the Antichrist can walk in and call himself "God".

I hear the Texas fundie cattle ranchers are still trying to breed a "spotless red heifer", because the prophecies say one will be needed for the Temple sacrifice. Seems like a waste of time, if the Temple doesn't exist yet.

6. Does that really count, with the synthetic cheese they use at Mickey D's?
I don't think there's any actual dairy substance in that crap.

7. I wouldn't know. I never mix diary products with meat
some strange family tradition whose origins escape me.

8. I've heard of the tradition.
Just not sure if it counts if the cheese isn't actually dairy.

I don't know what that orange rubbery stuff is at McDonalds, but it's not cheese.

I guess they could always use soy cheese if the Rabbis had a problem. McDonalds is pretty good about adjusting the menu to the local customs if that's what it takes to get their money.

Check out their Indian menu..... http://www.mcdonaldsindia.com/menu.html

Or for that matter, here's their Israel page.... http://www.mcdonalds.com/countries/israel.html

They claim they have "kosher milkshakes", which presumably would have to be non-dairy if you're selling them with burgers. No mention of cheese one way or the other though, so I guess they don't bother with the non-dairy kind?
